We had arranged a cab to pick us up frm Ernakulam Jn railway station. We left for Munnar after a brief stopover for breakfast in Ernakulam city. We took a detour from the regular route to Munnar. Went north to Aluva and then on to Kalady, the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya. After darshan at the shrine, left for Munnar.
Reached Munnar Town early evening. After a brief stop for tea, began the journey up the last leg of the hill leading to Chinnakanal, a breathtakingly winding road. Reached Lakeview Resort at dusk.
The check-in process was efficient. On request, we were allotted rooms on the lower reaches of the property, off the main building. The property has been built on a hillock without disturbing the surroundings too much.
The rooms were in good order. It was raining through our stay there. It gets quite slippery on the approach steps to the rooms. Elderly and infirm are advised against checking into these rooms, as they are not wheelchair friendly.
The restaurant was found wanting in cleanliness. Gets crowded at peak food hours.
Overall ambience of the property is good.
