Club Mahindra Munnar

We had arranged a cab to pick us up frm Ernakulam Jn railway station. We left for Munnar after a brief stopover for breakfast in Ernakulam city. We took a detour from the regular route to Munnar. Went north to Aluva and then on to Kalady, the birth place of Adi Shankaracharya. After darshan at the shrine, left for Munnar.

Reached Munnar Town early evening. After a brief stop for tea, began the journey up the last leg of the hill leading to Chinnakanal, a breathtakingly winding road. Reached Lakeview Resort at dusk.

The check-in process was efficient. On request, we were allotted rooms on the lower reaches of the property, off the main building. The property has been built on a hillock without disturbing the surroundings too much.

The rooms were in good order. It was raining through our stay there. It gets quite slippery on the approach steps to the rooms. Elderly and infirm are advised against checking into these rooms, as they are not wheelchair friendly.

The restaurant was found wanting in cleanliness. Gets crowded at peak food hours.

Overall ambience of the property is good.

Room Tip: Rooms on the outer lower reach have a great view of the tea gardens and river below

We stayed in the cottage behind the main hotel building, and its above the hill. During our check-in the hotel staff's helped us to bring our luggage's to the top side cottage but we didn't find anyone during check-out and we managed to bring all the luggage's to the parking above the hill. Rooms and good but toilets are terrible, you cannot properly use it and its so congested with its poor designing of architecture. Its a 4* rated resort but the service is just below a 3* resort. Only they are keeping the price at 5* ratings. You cannot make any difference with your stay if you didn't get any good balcony view. I booked the resort on January and requested for a balcony view, but they never looked at that. I like the location of the resort very much as it is overlooking the reservoir and tea gardens. I will not choose this resort for a second time. Who will climb the hill every time..??

Room Tip: No balcony = Waste of money & time If its cottage, you have to climb the hill every time, they...

Couldn't wait to checkout before I share my experience. An excellent location with tea plantations all around, RCI's gold crown rating and 5 star proclamation but several shortcomings make me swear not to visit this resort ever again. Appt. 1160 - the shower cabinet door is missing, geyser and telephones stop functioning. Thanks to ever-helping housekeeping staff, geyser and telephones are set right. But still this is not 5 star maintenance Real disappointment happened at the restaurant. Table clothes are missing and low market plastic table mats are cleaned with napkins left by previous guest. Buffet spread is cold and bland. Asked for napkins and most probably were given used ones - stinking, moist and crushed. My family has refused to eat again at the restaurant so have settled for room service. Room service is much more presentable and hygienic. Feel RCI should reconsider its rating for this resort till the management improves its restaurant.

The best hotel in Munnar. Location is amazing next to a very steep rising hill which looms over the property and over looking a beautiful lake. The property is well maintained and service was not outstanding but it was quite good. The staff is polite , the food variety and the quality was excellent. There are many things to do at the resort itself plus Club Mahindra organsies tours to many other attracations in and around Munnar. The tours have different flavours. We took a tour to a nearby hill which over looked the plains of Tamilnadu, it was nicely organised by Club Mahindra and they carried refreshments along with water for all of the guests travelling on the tour. We even did a river crossing using ropes. The club Mahindra staff is well trained and have all the necessary equipment to organise such activities. To get the best out of the resort one should get up early in the morning and move out around the resort. The view from the hotel, the fresh crisp mountain breeze and the lovely sorroundings all make stay here so special.

This is one excellent resort for all its qualities - location, service, premises, facilities except for its obscene prices. We got to stay here for free as part of our package but we still manager to spend 12k for a stay of 3 nights. Foods and beverages are highly prices. However, the buffet and the food quality is great. Very tasty and good options.

The activities are also priced quite highly.

We took an ayurvedic massage. Would not recommend it to anyone. The masseur was very inexperienced and did not know how to massage. It was a waste of money.

Rest, one should stay at this place once. Its a lovely resort.

Room Tip: Rooms are excellent and hotel staff is good enough to show you options if you don't like one roo...

The weather is an experience in itself. It is bright and sunny for while and suddenly it starts to rain and it just simply fantastic experience. The rooms are very comfortable. We cooked on our own and also enjoyed the food from the restaurant. Nice walks around the property. The location is simply superb.
