A wonderful place to stay in Santorini. It's step away from the local bus stop, right in the heart of small Mesaria where you have access to grocery stores, coffee shops, and a few bars. The hotel is on a lower elevation unlike most of the other scenic hotels in Santorini, however you do get a nice eastern scenic view of the vineyards, which makes for pleasant sunrises.

The facility is clean, cozy, and the pool and lounge areas are tidy and well kept. The hotel is run by a very friendly elderly couple who made us feel very much at home, greeting us with lovely conversations and friendly service.

Price wise, the hotel is a great value. Fira is only about a 25 minute walk, or a 5 minute bus ride, so it's great for those looking to enjoy the sights of the island while being able to escape the busy tourist spots in the evening.

Room Tip: Breakfast is served in the main lobby between 8am and 10, but your'e able to take it with you an...

During a business trip in March have stayed to this family run hotel. Located close to the airport and to Fira town it is a convenient place to stay. Room was very good and very clean. Bathroom was just renovated. Hotel offers breakfast (most of the food is home made by Mrs Irene). I suggest this hotel not only for business trips but also for relaxing holiday since it is quiet, friendly staff, has a swimming pool and beach is approximately 2km away.

Room Tip: Back sir facing the pool and the Aegean Sea

We had a wonderful stay and great services from Lucas and Irene.

Our stay felt more like a home than a hotel. The room and toilet overall are very clean, these couples really know how to maintain this cute hotel. We had the room with a big balcony facing the swimming pool. Breakfast also included, and it’s not like having breakfast at the hotel but its more like having breakfast with your family. It’s a lot of variety breakfast start from raisin bread, muffin, toast, eggs, lots of jam and all served in Greece style also with Greece coffee! I’m loving it.

Lucas took us around Mesaria and it was a great journey we had and for sure it’s unforgettable. He also took us to the airport, it’s around 10 minutes from the Hotel.

I would really recommend this hotel if you want to feel the friendliness of Greece family, i’m sure you won’t regret it.

Hotel Kalma is a great value for the price. It is as advertised- the people who wrote negative reviews need to remember that is listed as a two star not a five star hotel. The rooms are clean, the location is very central and the owners are two of the nicest people you will ever meet. There is nice view of the ocean from many rooms and the area was quiet at night which my husband and I appreciate. The owners are helpful, kind, warm and welcoming. The breakfast, which is included, is terrific and they easily serve the best French Toast I have ever eaten anywhere, ever! I was

Mt son and I stayed at Kalma Hotel for three nights. The room was large enough with a balcony overlooking a narrow garden path and shaded by a fig tree. In the distance the sea was visible. The room's furniture is of poor quality and we couldn't get the television working, but that might have been our lack of expertise. The worst thing about the room was the bathroom which seemed to have plumbing out of the sixties. The toilet constantly leaked and the shower stall was very tiny. The breakfast was excellent and the location is close to a bus stop so that you can go to the beach or to Fira in about ten minutes. There are tavernas close by but we didn't eat there, we spent most of our time touring the island. There are also a couple of mini marts that are handy. There is a pool and deck chairs available. The couple running it are friendly and accommodating. Not bad for the cost.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the pool have larger balconies.

Reservation made for five nights in early August 2013, but "evac'ed" to safer, cleaner, altogether better grounds after first night -- no refund.
Place not recommended as described.
Really low end accommodations even for price paid.
Everything shabby, threadbare, room smelly, decrepit.
Bathroom, shower poorly maintained.
Best category to place is 1980's Eastern Europe
No go...

My 13 year old son and I had a very nice stay in this hotel while we were in Santorini in July 2013. We were very warmly welcomed by Lucas and his wife at reception and they could not have been more helpful in offering maps and making phone calls so we could find our cousins at a nearby hotel. The other staff members were equally friendly and helpful, making us feel at home and safe during our stay. It's not the fanciest hotel you could stay in. If you are planning to stay in your room during your stay in Santorini maybe you should upgrade. If you need somewhere that's good value and centrally located and clean and safe, then I would recommend this hotel. Messaria town is centrally located and yards from the hotel were bus stops for Kamari Beach, Fira town, and Perissa Beach. The town is beautiful too - walk up the hill to explore the narrow alleys. The restaurant across the street from Kalma Hotel has awesome Greek Salad to take away, the local bakery has spinach pies in the morning, the local shops sell locally made wine, etc etc. There is a hair salon around the corner, etc. everything you need. The breakfast buffet at Kalma Hotel was fresh and varied too. Thank you Lucas, your dear wife, and everyone at the hotel for your hospitality.
