“Perfect hospitality”
Reviewed 25 November 2013

This place is a little bit of heaven The owners, Sylvana and Boyko have put so much love into creating their dream here - they are the lovliest hosts you will ever find - caring and genuinely friendly. We loved the house they have built in the traditional style and after 10 days travelling around Bulgaria it was just wonderful to enjoy the luxury and comfort at Lavanda in the incredibly beautiful surroundings.
Sylvana's cooking was to die for. She sources all local ingredients so we had paella made from mushrooms picked in the mountains that day, jam made from wild local strawberries etc. We expecially loved the elderflower syrup that Sylvana makes - mmm we miss those delicious meals.
My only regret is that Lavanda is so far away. We live in Australia so no chance to go there for the weekend! If I lived in Bulgaria, or in Europe for that matter, we would make regualr trips to Lavanda for some healthy mountain air, relaxation and pampering, When we came home I tried to find somehting similar that we could go to - but nothing. Of course not - Lavanda is totally unique and totally wonderrful!

This was one of the most relaxing and comfortable places that we have stayed in. The attention to detail by the owners is much appreciated. They were friendly and extremely helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The views and the location was superb. An unforgettable stay. Would highly reccommend

Although it has been a while since our visit, the memories of what we went through during our stay in the house Lavanda still warm our hearts. Away from city noise and bustle of everyday life, the village of Kovatchevitsa and the Rodopi mountain proved ideal destination for our vacation.
Our stay at Lavanda house was unforgettable and the hosts took care of everything. Both are extremely kind, very familiar with the area, and for the assistance we received prior to our arrival, we are extremely grateful to them, because it was much later than expected. In the cold winter night they did not just wait for us, but we were welcomed very properly.
The house itself is combining modern era and the true feeling of forgotten times. Our room was very warm and cozy, and the scent of lavender was very soothing. It has all the amenities to satisfy very demanding tastes, while at the same time really makes you relax and enjoy the silence, nature and the fresh air. The food is very tasty, homemade and there are always few options to choose from.
With great pleasure we would go there again, regardless of the season, it was totally worth it!

Room Tip: The entire house is beautiful, you can't go wrong with the choice!

I chose the place for a small girls celebration, because my best friend was getting married. We spent there 2 nights - very cosy, modern inside but still authentic atmosphere of the guest house. The owners are superb nice, helpful, positive and provide the best service i have seen in Bulgaria. The in-house menu offers only home made dishes, which deserve a Micheline Star :) So fresh and tasty.. and of course the home made bread with cheese and elderberry juice.. this was our favorite. I am recommending the house to everyone who would like to take a moment to remember and feel the spirit of a place, where the time has stopped...

We stayed for two nights at the beginning of July 2013. We have a house in Bulgaria and have travelled widely, in the country and stayed in many small hotels. Kovachevitsa is one of the highlights of our travels. It is an historically interesting village of period architecture, nestling in hills above a dramatic, forested river valley.

Sylvana, our host, is a delightful person and she impressed us by sending us an e-mail before we arrived with detailed instructions to the house. This is important as the village streets are very narrow and the original paving stones are not good for cars. She advised us to park in the quiet village street and take a few minutes walking down to the house.

The house is gorgeous and is only two years old but has been built with meticulous detail, using quality materials and copying the older houses. The views from the garden are superb.
There are four guest rooms. Ours was most comfortable. There was one other friendly family staying. There is a pleasant balcony on the first floor and a pleasant garden. Meals are taken in a pretty garden house. Sylvana is an excellent cook and provides superb breakfasts and if you want an evening meal, you tell her at breakfast and she will tell you what she is cooking (always wonderful) and you advise how many courses you want.

The village is very quiet at night. There are wonderful walks from the house which give great views of the Pirin Mountains.

A truly memorable two nights and we are recommending this to our friends.

Fortunately for any other would-be-guests, we were the only guests at Lavanda for our two nights this June. This place would be an amazing romantic getaway spot and so a couple may have been disappointed to be sharing the place with myself, husband, 3 year old and 1 year old.

Silvana was the perfect hostess and welcomed us all warmly to the B & B. The place is incredible. In an amazing little village in some of the most unspoilt surroundings I have ever been to. The mountains are beautiful and the place was in bloom with the most stunning Bluebells everywhere.

The attention to details around the property was first-class with amazing boutique-style attention to detail in everything from the shower gel, to the plant pots!

The breakfast options were also delicious and nothing was too much trouble for Silvana.

For other families thinking of going with children be warned - there is nothing to do in the village! We made our own fun in the lovely garden by borrowing a bucket and having water play with the children. We also took a hike through to the river, which was an adventure for the little ones. For a couple of days total escape Lavanda is perfect.

Thank you Silvana for opening your beautiful home to us.
