We were here for a day trip in Dec 2013 and had an excellent time. Raj and his staff were accommodating and gracious. We enjoyed wonderful food, camel ride, local music and dance. We were not staying for the night but we would recommend this place for anyone who's interested in a great outing with good food and hospitality.

We stayed here for 2 nights in January and had a fantastic time. I had been in contact with Raj for some months and he was endlessly helpful and patient with our enquiries. Really gave a great feeling of confidence in making the booking. Our train arrangements kept changing and in the end we were late but he was there to meet us and whisk us to the camp where hot dinner had been kept for us. It was cold at night at this time but the staff positioned burners near the tables in the dining hall which really helped. The tents are spacious and comfortable. Bathrooms are good and there was plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable and piled with quilts. We were thrilled to find hot water bottles placed in the bed every night - a lovely touch! A word about the food: absolutely superb. really tasty lunches and dinners. Excellent sauces and spicing and plenty of food. Breakfasts were always good too. Service was superb. Always there, anticipating.. We had a 3 hour camel ride on our first morning which was a lot of fun and most interesting to see how much actually goes on in the desert that seems so empty. We ended at a homestead where we had tea, saw aspects of the lives of the people. Then we had a fun trip around the desert in a jeep where we saw more about desert life, antelopes, other animals, peacocks. Evening entertainment was of a high quality: musicians, singers and dancers all around a camp fire. It was a fabulous 48 hours and we would definitely do it again and highly recommend.

My family stayed here for 1 night in January. My son loved it here because there was lots of open space to run and play in the sand. It's safe for kids here to play and relax. The staff looked after us well, providing us with good food, clean and maintained tent. We went on a evening camel ride out to nearby dunes which was very relaxing. Night time folk entertainment was good. I felt like a proper guest here. Compared to other tent camps in Jaislamer, this place was better maintained and less touristy feel. It was very easy organizing the visit via email with Raj.

We were here at 31st Dec. Just thought that we should be here on 31st as we were Rajasthan tour that time, but a little doubt about weather as a small kid was with us, we were in constant contact with Raj from 1st week of December and finally we enjoyed our new year party here. Raj really takes care of every family personally and try to help out of the way. Very good arrangement was made on 31st night DJ, folk dance.

Food that time was average, hot water facility was not that good (which should be there specially in winters).

Our driver was not happy with camp staff, food and bed arrangements for drives was not that good.

Our experience at Safari camp Osian was simply amazing and excellent.
We had called the owner that we will be reaching early in the day and he made all arrangements to receive us early.
The way he and the support staff take care of their guests is simply superb. He ensures personal care for every guest and family which stays there which only shows his passion.
One thing I can vouch for is that he is not money-minded.
He organized a jeep trip (dune bashing) and also a camel ride in the evening.
At night since it was quite cold he gave us personalized hot water packs(to keep under the bed) so that we stay warm.
He ensured that running hot water is available for all the guests in their tents inspite of all the crowd that day.
The place and location is also excellent. It gives a rustic feeling without compromising on some of our basic amenities.
If you are travelling as a family and still want to have fun and a totally different experience than staying in hotels, I would strongly recommend this place.

Room Tip: All tents are good.

Our experience with safari camp Osian was interesting and different from a regular hotel stay. The place is nice - tents, food, entertainment etc. The camel safari was more like a camel ride but Raj Bakshi made up for it by letting us go for it again and also giving us a bonus dune bashing experience. He personally ensured that we were comfortable and went out of his way to ensure everything was fine and throwing in extras wherever he could. Raj was very accommodating and never said no for anything.

Room Tip: All tents are the same

Our family of four had a fantastic time with Raj and his crew. I was originally unsure about my 10 and 7 year old sons on a camel ride, but they had the time of their life. The desert safari ride (which I passed on) was an even bigger hit! The tents are well appointed and very comfortable. We had a warm and cozy sleep and found it difficult to leave early the next morning...next time we will have to stay at least two nights! The food and beverages were also very good and plentiful.

It is a beautiful, quiet place that was a nice respite from the busy cities we had visited. We especially enjoyed the entertainment under the stars of Rajastani musicians and dancers. They were very talented; it was perfect.

I highly recommend Safari Camp Osian for your desert camel experience. They were accommodating in every way from our pickup and drop off at the train station, to ensuring that all our needs were taken care of during our stay.

An off-the-beaten-track alternative to busy Jaisalmer!
