A wonderful place to spend a weekend or more. The rooms exceed in decor, spacious, warm and very very clean. The breakfast served is a Herculean affair with handmade food. Gives you the feeling that you never left home. If you're going to Dimitsana Enastron is a must!! Thank you Dimitri and Dora for your wonderful hospitality!!!

Dimitsana is a gorgeous little town and this guesthouse is fantastic. Very comfortable beds, our kids absolutely loved having their own little loft. Plenty of room although bathroom small. Host was friendly and helpful and provided an amazing breakfast, including freshly made cheese pie one day and meat pie the next. Great home made jams as well. We had a great walk by the river to the monastry and absoultey loved the rafting trip we did with Trekking Hellas. Our boys (5&7) desperately wanted to go again.

Greece has established criteria for what are called Xenonas hotels. They must be of character and are generally in traditional buildings with authentic traditional décor. We've stayed in several in our frequent travels in Greece. The Enastron is an excellent example of these hotels. It is right near the town center, up some steps, as in everything in this hillside town. Our party had two rooms, both spacious. The bed linens were fabulous, especially the duvet. You have a choice of hard (my husband's choice) or soft (mine) pillows, unlike so many places is Greece where there is no choice. The included breakfast was generous. The couple who run the Enastron are very helpful...the whole town was at a baptism celebration where there was dancing in the street, but they'd left a note on the door for us and were there in moments when we called. We'll be back!

Room Tip: There are only three rooms and the two we stayed in were equally spacious and clean.

We spent a delightful week at Enastron in September 2012.

We flew from Stansted with Ryanair into Patras [Araxos]; unfortunately this route does not appear to be operating in summer 2013. Car hire was essential, as Dimitsana is three hours from the airport and there is limited public transport in the hills of Arcadia. The roads in the area are narrow (particularly in the hill-towns) and need careful navigation - it will take longer than you imagine to get about.

There is one road passing through Dimitsana. From whichever direction, first find the main square. It’s about 30 metres from the highest point in town (where the road turns sharply). The square itself is nondescript, with dumpsters flanking a wall, but is the only place large enough to accommodate a coach stop. A weekly farmer’s market is held here.

Look carefully around the square and you will see a steep road leading up. Follow this, and (after 100 metres) continue around a right-handed hairpin. After a further 50 metres, the road narrows between houses. Keep straight on (slowly) and after 25 metres you reach a little square with a war memorial in the centre. [There is also a small car parking area up a steep ramp to your left]. Stop here (you can’t realistically go further, anyway). Enastron (the house with green shutters) is directly ahead of you - past the war memorial - on the right of a cobbled street leading downwards, and opposite a playground.

After you unload and check in, I suggest you park on the road leading up from the main square. This is a little further away, but using the car park by the memorial is more awkward.

The photographs on the guesthouse’s website (www.xenonasenastron.gr/engl/index.html) are an accurate representation. Our room was the one with the black / blue bedspread: spacious, airy, light and warm, with a lovely small balcony and views over the town and gorge. The bathroom, while perfectly adequate, has no natural light and is a little small and dark.

Breakfasts are generous and filling. Dora and Dimitris are natural hosts, always available when needed, but equally mindful of their guest’s space and privacy. Most other guests spent only a night or two, but uniformly expressed jealousy that we were staying a relatively long time. I was particularly grateful for Dimitris’ help with my car hire firm when (after rain) I discovered that my vehicle had a bald tyre.

In town, the restaurants have similar menus, but with generous portions it is easy to over-order. There are grocers for picnic assembly, a bank with a cashpoint, and a post office. Dimitsana is well-placed to see the sights of the central Peloponnese: we visited Olympia, Mystras, and Bassae (Vasses), strolled in the Lousios gorge and drove through the local woods.

Dimitsana I understand is primarily a winter resort, but can be visited at any time of year. This trip was an absolute joy, and we hope to return to see the remainder of this attractive region.

Room Tip: Take either of the two larger rooms, if available.

We stayed for three nights in the beautiful Enastron b&b in Dimitsana, near the Lousios Gorge. The room was very well equipped, with all trimmings, wired internet, a lovely balcony overlooking the village and the surrounding mountains. The owners provided an almost too extensive breakfast with homemade delicacies, and helped us in every way. A lovely place to stay in a nice village in a fantastic region.
The only drawback was the small bathroom.

Room Tip: ask for the room on the highest level

stayed with my partner at Enastron for 2 days and wished we could stay more.
It only has 3 rooms and we were lucky enough to stay in the biggest of them although all 3 rooms are spacious.
Mrs. Dora and her husband a friendly, lovely and professional couple seems that they took care of every last detail in order to make our stay unforgettable.
The homemade goodies in the breakfast were amazing. Tried everything, the cheese pie and the cream pie, omelet and chocolate cake among other things.
The free wi-fi and the half minute walking distance to the cafes and the restaurants of Dimitsana is a big plus.
