Honeysuckle Cottage
Reviewed 3 July 2012

This is the second time we have stayed in this B & B as we liked it so much when we stayed here last year. This is a small B & B with 2 rooms in an extremely peaceful setting on a private road bordering a large common. Everything was just as good as we had remembered. Sue and Darius are delightful hosts. The breakfasts are very good with fresh fruit and orange juice and cooked breakfasts to order. Everything is spotless. Although a bit off the beaten track you are not far from NT properties such as Avebury,Laycock or Dyrham Park and the towns of Bath and Bradford on Avon are also close by. Honeysuckle Cottage is very reasonably priced and is by far the best B and B we have stayed in.

Room Tip: We have stayed in both available rooms and were happy with each of them. If you want maximum privac...

I stayed at Honeysuckle cottage for 3 nights at the end of November 2011 with my 2 youngest children.

Sue and Darius were amazingly kind, generous and friendly, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The breakfasts were out of this world, the rooms were delightful and comfortable, and The Swan pub on the common is a great place to relax with a beer. Monday night is quiz night, and not to be missed! : )

I may well have to return to the area several times during 2012, and will try to make sure that there's space for me at Honeysuckle cottage. Thank you so much for helping to make our visit to the UK a wonderful experience.

What a treat this B and B was. Sue and Darius were extremely welcoming and provided us with a pot of tea and biscuits on our arrival. Our room was clean and tastefully furnished. There are only 2 guest rooms so it is very peaceful. We had the twin bedded room with a small sitting room and bathroom adjacent. There were lots of nice little touches, like bathrobes hanging in the closet and mini torches on the keyring. The cottage is very peaceful as it is situated on a no through road on a large common. There is a local pub within walking distance across the common which is a couple of hundred years old and serves decent pub grub.

I stayed with Sue and Darius at their wonderful Honeysuckle Cottage with my wife a few years back and again with my two boys in July this year. It was an obvious choice, because Sue and Darius make everyone feel at ease and at home. For my boys - being the first time in England - this was a very remarkable and wonderful experience! We love them.
Honeysuckle cottage itself has been restored and furbished with much love to detail and gives you everything you need for comfort and a relaxing break or holiday. Located in the village of Broughton-Gifford it gives you the feel of English country life - and you have to visit the village pubs to get even more of it - the cottage is also exceptionally well located to tour the South and the West country as well as London, which can be reached by regular train services from Chippenham, Bath or Basingstoke.

Having read previous reviews from guests who stayed at Honeysuckle Cottage, I was very much impressed. Sue & Darius couldn't have been more welcoming & helpful, from bringing in the luggage to suggesting days out. The twin-bedded room was delightful with our own bathroom & sitting room. Breakfast was amazing - I would definitely recommend Sue's scrambled eggs! Nothing was too much trouble and we would definitely recommend Honeysuckle Cottage to those wishing to stay in the area, but away from the noisy large towns.

We loved this Bed & Breakfast, it was just right for a relaxing break. It is beautifully situated overlooking the common and yet within walking distance of the pub! The rooms were clean and well furnished and the breakfast was delicious.
Sue and Darius made us feel very welcome and we had a great break visiting nearby National Trust properties.
