“Very peaceful - but a long way to go”

Reviewed 28 May 2016 via mobile

We hired a private driver through our hotel, not a cheap way to go, but meant we got a comfortable 4wd with seatbelts. Need local knowledge to get here as roads are variable and nothing is signposted.
Mosque itself was cool, calm and quiet, we ate our packed lunch overlooking the valley and a cemetery. Very interesting journey, but a very long way to go. Took 8 hours to drive from Aktau, see this mosque and valley of the spheres, stop for lunch and drive back. But we thought it was worth it - the desert is alive with animal and insect life this time of year...
