“Beautiful, idyllic, luxuriously casual with genuinely kind and attentive service.”
Reviewed 13 December 2011

Truly one of the most idyllic properties in South America. The casual elegance and luxury with a genuinely kind staff, caring for every need was a highlight of our family trip to South America. Families with children of all ages felt comfortable along with couples as well as individual travelers. The staff at this property, along with their sister property, Estancia Vik, several miles inland and entirely different, yet equally as spectacular, were amazing in their level of professionalism and care for our well being. The properties are both works of art, each room unique and comfortable with only the finest linens. The chef prepared wonderful meals. A real highlight not to be missed is the seafood BBQ on the deck ocerlookingthe ocean. Very worthwhile. Highest reccomedndation. We look forward to a return visit.

this is one of my favorite hotels. beautiful pool looking out on the ocean, great spaces for sitting, reading, sunning or having your meals. each room is fitted with difference accents and art, and the architecture is really special. the staff is incredibly nice and food was delicious. *highly recommended*

...too expensive for what it is. Don't get me wrong, the place is a movie location, the service is great, the view is fantastic, the rooms are pure design, but it's just overpriced.

We love to spend each summer New Year and the first week of january in Punta del Este.
We also were losing the hope in finding a well located, nice and with excellent service hotel, mainly after our last experiences in hotels self described as excellent, such as Casa Suaya (see my review on that) that turned out to be an expensive huge disapointment.
We can say that finally we found it!! It's expensive, yes, but not more that the other in the same location, only that in Playa Vik is it worth paying for!!!
The rooms are a piece of art! perfectly furnished, with great views!
We stayed in Fuerteventura suite for 7 nights, it has amazing views of the ocean.
The staff is incredibly kind, helpful and friendly. They are after all your needs, they simply can't be more accommodating.
The pool is expectacular!!!
Can't wait to go back next year!!!!

Agree with the other reviews that the staff makes this wonderful property even better. Very friendly and passionate about seeing to your happiness. The default answer is 'no problem', or 'of course'. Thank you Ryan for your wine guidance (and everything else). We'd like to be able to get some of the new Garzon here in New York!

We were here for 4 days, and I would suggest staying here if you can for at least that long. We went to Estancia Vik after which was terrific but can't compare to the setting at the beach. We stayed in the Jose Ignacio casita which was perfect as there were three of us. It has bunk beds so not good for four adults but the kids will love it. There are 4 rooms in the pool house for couples but to experience the uniqueness of the property the casita is the way to go.

Our group had a single complaint. One of the joys of staying in a small hotel with an attentive staff is not having to sign chits or consult drink menus. Just ask for it and the staff will try to accomodate you. At some point you wonder 'What is all of this costing me"?, but then you're so happy you don't care and figure it's worth it anyway. Which it is, except for the sushi lunch which cost $75 per person (the normal lunch price) and consisted of a few non-descript rolls. The asado and fish grill lunch were perfect and filling, and though $75 before wine is a steep price for lunch it was worth it. The sushi though was another story. We paid $225 for a handful of rolls. That made us feel a little foolish. That would have paid for a feast at La Huella.

Other then the sushi, I have nothing but praise for Playa Vik. Jose Ignacio is a special place and this is the hotel to experience it from. danieloc99@gmail.com
