“Very disappointing!:(”
Reviewed 6 January 2013 via mobile

This place is truly upsetting. I hardly ever write long reviews, but in this case I guess I can make a lot of people happier by recommending them to stay away from this place. Yes, the rooms are wonderful, tidy, spacious and offer a nice view (if ur on the second floor)! But the rooms are not exactly the problem. Neither, the location. Jose ignacio is beautiful and it has a bunch of great restaurants close by (make sure you come by car, which you will also need to get to a beach! You cant really use the beach by the hotel!) Its the poolarea: wow - out of nine days, I made it into the pool once, but only because i was dying of heat. The pool is pretty disgusting. its very disappointing, cause the poolside is pretty much the only thing casa suaya has to offer! The owner claims on the website you can bring your friends to the poolside, but i assure you you dont wanna bring anyone to this dirty pool. Everything around here is a little rusty and about to break. Plus the service is unprofessional, the breakfast is super simple and dont dare to ask for anything addiotionally than whats on display - the "waiters" will give you a confused look. The management desperately needs an update in hospitality. Our criticism did not come as a surprise for any one in the area, its seems like casa suaya is relying upon the hype of jose ignacio during the season to get this place booked. The owner def needs to invest in his property, especially the pool, as rumor says it its not the first season in which the pool has turned green. Some people who work here are lovely, kind and amazing and I feel sorry for them to have this place as a reference. Leo, for example is the DJ at the pool and the concierge. He has by far the 'bestest' music in jose ignacio! The owner was fair enough to offer us to move out with a reimbursement, but most things were fully booked plus it would have been a little too stressy! At least they tried a little harder! Despite all empathy and love I have for the nice individuals who work here, I simply can not recommend this place at all. This property requires a proper make-over! Do not let it disappoint you!

We want to complain about casa suaya services and value for money. Two of the three days, there was no hot water, we had to call twice to get our room cleaned, and there was no bread during breakfast. When we complained to Mara, she said that Expedia should be the one to be responsable and that they could not do anything about it. The location is beautiful but do not expect a four star hotel service. No hotel managers were available while wecwere there, and the only two people availble were helpless. Not worth $275 a night.... A joke.

Room Tip: Not worth the money

I have spent a long weekend at Casa Suaya last March.
Great place to stay....in front of the beach.....2min from Jose Ignacio beach, and la "Huella".
Excellent breakfast, don't miss the medialunas clients!
The room very spacious, and the service great!

We really hope to be back for New Year eve!!!

Thanks again for the great hospitality!

Imagine yourself waking up with a view of a blue sky and a blue ocean. It was possible at Casa Suaya, our room was in the new area, in the second floor, so our balcony was facing this beautiful landscape every morning. During the night we could see the moon shining over the water and the sky full of stars. There was no noise, the room is spacious, with a nice matress and nice linen. The pool is great, with nice music and where we used to be greeted by a cute pet (a white dog) who used to move her tail and lay down with her legs up waiting for our caress. The hotel restaurant is more than wonderful with friendly staff.

We were so disappointed that even changing rooms hasn't helped and we left earlier, changing to a nice clean hotel instead.
Pictures on the website do not show a rundown hotel, with humid rooms and dirty koi fish pond who are probably slowly dying. Rooms are overpriced for a kind of service you get. The owners should either change the management, stuff and renovate this hotel or drop the cost of rooms 3 times to accommodate students or backpackers.
It seems as if this hotel is run by kids in dirty t- shirts. They are nice friendly kids, but totally unprofessional and untrained.
The room we were shown first had literally dirt on the curtains and bed covers, not to mention a dead bug in the bathroom. When we have complained, we were shown into another room, which was cleaner and dryer, but everything else was so poor, we have decided to leave the next morning.
Plus, we were woken up by lawn mowing machine! When we asked if it is possible to do it later - nothing happened and the guy just continued for another hour or two in front of our window.
It is a pity that they have left this hotel to go bad, for the buildings and design concept in itself is nice. Location is pretty and very close to the beach. However, I would never come here again or advise anyone until it is at least cleaned properly and renovated.
Sorry to leave such bad review, but we were really looking forward to staying in Jose Ignacio and this hotel has made this visit pretty disappointing.

Room Tip: If you have to come here, do not choose bungalows.

Reviewed 22 February 2012

I stayed at Casa Suaya from Feb. 18 to 20, 2012 with 9 of my best friends. We were celebrating the birthday of one of them and after visiting some five cities this was our last stop. And this was to be the Coute de Gras of the whole vacation. I must stay I was quite disappointed! Well let me start off with what we liked: If you like BoHo type accomodations- then this is your spot. It is hidden away in the up and coming Jose Igancio. And is a few feet from the beach. But when I say BoHo I mean to no real ammenities- like spa, concierge or room service. What we did like was the quaint pool which is right next to the restaurant bar- which had very nice servers in Soleil and Rodrigo. The RibEye is excellent as are the Capirinahs!
Alex who runs the main desk was very helpful on a variety of topics from restaurants to trips to twon, etc. But he seemed to be doing EVERYTHING!
Now the bad. 1) the restaurant food is good but you can not charge to your room and they do not tell you this. So they spend a whole lot of time tracking down guests to pay their tabs. Also, there are tons of flies that are in the restaurant- not the same experience in other parts of PDE. 2) Had a major transportation issue with the hotel. We had a private driver pick us up- 10 of us- the quote was $100. When we got to the hotel they told us $300. Outrageous. Though I had email confirmation the hotel keep blaming the concierge who had since left BUT onsite the hotel offered no help though it was there fault. Fernando = the manager- who I NEVER saw onsite sent me an email still saying we were quoted by their concierge as incorrect but he never offered a solution- terrible service 3)Plumbing was awful- we had 5 rooms and all 5 smelled of sewage in the bathrooms 4) One night they came to fix an air conditioner in one of our rooms- they poured water in the unit which proceeded to drip all over the tv- which shorted out the tv rendering it useless- not to mention this was during the live telecast of the Whitney Houston service! So though the accomodations were overly nice- there are way too many kinks and where was the managerial staff to help Alex. Last note, we had a fantastic poolside dinner at Playa Vicx- out of this world! I will stay there my next visit- and their prices are on par with Casa Suaya for a WHOLE LOT MORE!!!
