Our annual walk along the disused railway from Keswick to Threlkeld always ends in this pub. Friendly, cosy, Jennings Snecklifter on draught and the choice from a fine menu, cooked well and ample in size. After all, we've earned it and have booked a taxi back! Check out the pic of the fish, great value.

Stayed at a B&B in Keswick, this pub was recommended to us by the B&B host. The menu is typical hearty British food such as steak pie, sausage & mash., burger etc. Quality was good, service ok, price good value.
The pub wasn't full but half of the tables were reserved with nobody sat on them. We turned up without a reservation, although we managed to get a table it was right by the bar so I would recommend booking ahead.

We visited the Horse and Farrier in Threlkeld for an evening meal whilst staying on holiday on a nearby farm. The welcome we received was wonderful, the staff being happy to accommodate our greyhound as well as our young children. They were equally thoughtful to all! The food was delicious, service relatively quick and we returned the following evening to do it all over again. Would highly recommend it.

Lovely traditional Lakeland inn roaring log fires and very welcoming new hosts. I was concerned the food quality may have changed with change of owners but am pleased to say it has if anything has improved!
Sunday lunch was fabulous and the new hosts are warm and friendly nothing is too much trouble.
We will be back soon.
