“Ings is perfect for a family! Beauty, peace, comforts of home...”
Reviewed 19 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

Ings is an absolutely lovely house: it is located in the most beautiful spot in Cumbria (in my opinion) and has the charm of an ancient farm house with all modern updates including a washer and dryer which was really a blessing. Nick is a kind and communicative (long-distance) owner and has a very nice and easily accessible house manager who lives nearby. We were there in mid June and had every kind of weather but nothing prevented us from being outside! We enjoyed hikes up the spectacular Blencathra right behind the house, walked to the pub in Threlkeld several times by walking right out the back door, drove to and strolled all around Grasmere (and up to the lovely and peaceful Alcock Tarn), and saw a number of Wordsworth-related sites; we ate several delicious meals in Ambleside (Italian, Indian, even American, which was hilarious and not very good ;-) -- but most of all we just reveled in the beauty of the Lakes overall. The house is a great spot to base yourself for long or short drives around the whole of Cumbria. The kids were happy with the TV and the Wifi on the rainiest of days, and it was nice for us, too, for them to be occupied while we cooked or read or snoozed. Loads of books, DVDs and VHS tapes for all tastes and ages, a number of games and other diversions are also available. Really it is just a perfect family retreat for immersing yourself in the lakes district. The kids loved the sheep everywhere and tried their hardest to befriend them (though never quite succeeded). The only thing to note: towels are not included, but for 4 pounds a set, we "hired" them from Barbara a very accommodating and knowledgeable house manager. The toilet flushing is a bit tricky but fine once you get the hang of it. Old pipes, antique plumbing, etc. (Nick: It might be useful to leave an explanation about the plumbing and its eccentricities). And also I'd add that I think the pillows need replacing -- they are a bit lumpy. Otherwise everything was perfect, amazing, fantastic, and just so incredibly beautiful!! and I hope when we return next we can stay two weeks instead of one which felt too short!

Liked best: the upstairs double bedroom with views of the hills.
Liked least: The bed was uncomfortable in that room but we used that room anyway for the view.

“Fabulous place to stay”
Reviewed 5 June 2016 for a stay in May 2016

had a brilliant weeks stay at Ings, house was superb and had everything you needed for self catering.Set in amazing countryside the views and scenery were breathtaking, felt like we were miles from anywhere but Keswick only four miles away. Our grandchildren loved the garden with its many nooks and crannies and would have been happy to stay and play here all day, however there were many great places and things to do within a thirty minute drive from Ings. I'm sure we will be back again sometime soon to soak up the peace and tranquillity that Ings had in abundance.

“Lovely Ings”
Reviewed 25 May 2016 for a stay in May 2016

Stayed at Ings for my Dad's 91st birthday. Comfortable spacious accommodation, wonderful views from the garden.
We enjoyed evenings out in the local pubs at Threlkeld and even Dad managed the 20minute walk.
Would definitely stay here again

“Second visit... already booking next year!”
Reviewed 29 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

This was our second time staying at Ings.

As a group we all had different interests - hill walking, mountain biking, pubs, shopping, feeding the lambs, lazy days, reading and watching movies. Ings is the perfect base to do all of this. So, it doesn't matter what you are in the Lakes to do, Ings will be great for you.

The house is really nice, clean, spacious and the view from the house is one of the most stunning you will get in the Lakes.

Highly recommended. Already making our next booking!

“Cosy, comfortable, beautifully furnished, fantastic views”
Reviewed 30 March 2016 for a stay in March 2016

We have all loved our stay at Ings. The weather has been cold, wet and snowy most days and so the welcoming fires and cosy living rooms have been all the more welcome.
Our teenage children have had the space to spread out and tackle exam revision as well as make full use othe wifi.
We have loved the remote feel and fantastic views yet Keswick is only a couple of miles away. We have hardly used the car, climbing up Blencathra and Skiddaw from the doorstep and cycling part of the sea to sea route.
Everything works too and there's lots of equipment.
Barbara supplied us with lots of coal and logs on arrival.
Bringing Slippers is a good idea as the beautiful stone floors are a little cold to walk on.
Really don't want to go home!
