“Go somewhere else.....not worth the money, or time”
Reviewed 11 January 2014

This is the 3rd time in the last year we've been to Clearview and come away feeling like it was a waste of time and money.
Slow service, below average food, and a general attitude of 'we don't care what you think'.

As Hawkes Bay locals we are more than happy to pay top dollar for excellent food, wine and service in many of our local wineries. However clearview's inability to meet expectations is astonishing. No fish available, despite being a fully booked Saturday and we arrived at 11.30am. 3 of us had steak which was so tough it hurt to cut it, and when we re-ordered it took a further 45 mins for replacement meals to come. Hesitantly we ordered dessert hoping for some improvement, alas the wait again was 60 mins for choc tart that was pre-made and dry pastry.

The small plates are so tiny my 11yr old daughter was still hungry after hers. The wait staff had no ability to answer questions regarding gluten free or dairy free, and even when they went away to check with the kitchen came back with incorrect info. Not funny when you have a celiac and a child that requires an ambulance if digests dairy. And the list goes on......

My recommendation....go somewhere else, don't waste 3 hrs of your life and a decent amount of money and still drive away feeling hungry, dissatisfied and unheard or cared for.

“Fine wine and food”
Reviewed 10 January 2014

It was a busy lunch but we received excellent service. The food and wine were delicious. We can recommend the Clearview take on sausage rolls and the fantastic platters. A great place for people with young kids as well.

“Good Food but small portions and Bad Service”
Reviewed 9 January 2014

We visited on December 28th and had a very disappointing experience, the food was good but quantities small and service non existent. The Wine makers were great though, very helpful and informative. When leaving we explained our frustrations and were left in no doubt that our views were of no interest to the guy taking the money. Elephant Hill next door is MUCH better.

“A great place for lunch”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

We had a very nice lunch followed by wine tasting. The food was very good in attractive open air surroundungs (although we got a bit chilly and moved indoors!) We also enjoyed the wine tasting and were helped by someone who was very knowledgeable and informative.

“Nice food, great with kids, average service”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

Brunch for 2 families at 11am. Restaurant fully booked for lunch but quiet while we were there. Food and coffee good but service not to standard it should be for this type of place. Staff seemed disinterested - food order taken but we had to ask for drinks orders. No gluten free bread (pretty mainstream now),had to ask for more coffee, out of diet coke that day and had to ask each time for more water. Also 2 meals (just bacon and eggs like the others) served quite a bit after the others. Just not the experience we were expecting and have in fact had in the past.
