My husband and I visited the Farm at Cape Kidnappers in April 2014, and every aspect of our stay was just wonderful. As others have mentioned, the accommodations, food and wine are top-notch. What we particularly enjoyed was the range of activities offered, which provided us with an opportunity to really appreciate the amazing views and the Farm setting. We went quad biking and horseback riding, and both were fantastic. Dzidra was our guide for the horseback riding, and despite both my husband and I being complete beginners, she was beyond patient and kind. We were able to see so much of the property that I don't think we otherwise would. Quad biking was a completely different type of adventure, and just as fun! Overall, the Farm at Cape Kidnappers is a lovely place to escape to -- only wish it were closer to our part of the world!

Everything about this place is very special:
- spectacular views
- luxurious (yet very tasteful) lodge and guest rooms
- outstanding food & wine
- welcoming & efficient staff
- a variety of exciting activities to choose from.
I've been lucky enough to have stayed at The Farm twice now (2011 & 2024) and I would recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect venue to celebrate a special occasion. The highlight of this weekend, for me, was the Kiwi Discovery Walk. It was fascinating to learn about the successful Kiwi breeding program and the chance to cuddle a Kiwi was priceless.
Yes, this Lodge is expensive, but it is very special. If you can afford it - do it - it is so worthwhile!

Our overall experience at Cape Kidnappers was awesome. It was our first time at this resort. We will most certainly return to Cape Kidnappers and even try one of the company's other properties. There is nothing but "wow" that we can say about Kidnappers - the service, the scenary, the lodge, the rooms, the food, the golf course, the serenity, and its history - are excellent.

One of the highlights of our stay at the Kidnappers and our two week tour of New Zealand was horse trekking. My wife and I were guests at Cape Kidnappers so we requested to trek on the property with little guidance other than seeing the gannet colony. What a trek it was! And Dzidra made it happen.

Dzidra made us feel comfortable from the outset with our horses and how to ride and control them since we are equestrian novices. Her love and care of horses was heartfelt. Dzidra encouraged us not to take our cameras as she would take plenty of pictures and action shots, which she did. Dzidra organized three separate rides rolled into one trek in terms of scenery and experience, which afforded a great experience of the property. During the first leg we trekked down into and along a beautiful river canyon. The views back up and around the canyon walls were spectacular. It was a plus to observe sheep herds along the way enhancing our experience of how the property was and remains farmed. The second leg of the trek included a ride across grazing plains complete with close up views of cattle and magnificent bulls. As we approached the ocean, we had a beautiful panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean, the mountains, the plains, and “sharks teeth.” We dismounted at the top of the bluff just above one of the two gannett colonies, whereby we hiked briefly down to and among the birds, which was an experience of a lifetime. The final leg of the trek was along the cliffs with continued amazing views of the ocean, bluffs, and beaches. Dzidra maintained a perfect pace for the trek so we could take it all in. Her enthusiastic knowledge about the history of the property, the gannets, and farming made the overall excursion educational and interesting.

We highly recommend Cape Kidnappers and a horse trek with Dzidra. Upon our return to NZ we will do it again. Regardless the type of terrain and scenery you like, Dzidra will ensure a spectacular and memorable trek.

We recently had the opportunity to join Dzidra and her horses Juice, Onyx, and Nugget for a magnificent ride through the stunning property that is Cape Kidnappers. Our trek started with us meeting and introducing ourselves to the horses, earning their trust, respect, and that bonded needed as eventually we would be the one's saddling them up and enjoying this adventure with them. As we walked through the scenery and landscapes that engulfed us, it was easy to forget that we has never rode horses before. You could tell that the years of training in which Dzidra had put in was not only for her love of the animals, but also with the thought that others should experience NZ on horseback. The views and the scenery from the cliff top edges are magnificent and is something everyone who is fortunate enough to visit this property should experience. Thank you to Dzidra for her wealth of knowledge and the team at The Farm for their recommendations as this is something we will never forget!

For us, this is the best property out of the three (cape, Matakauri and kauri cliffs). The main building is brilliantly designed with luxurious interiors as our the lodges for guests. The staff are outstanding and the food is exquisite.

For us the highlight of our trip was this property. The golf course and club house were great and the outstanding experience for us was the private kiwi experience. It was amazing to track a baby kiwi with the local guide - a once in a lifetime experience not offered anywhere else in New Zealand. The guide was outstanding and she also took us to see the gannet colony which I recommend to anyone staying here.

Our only regret is we didn't stay long enough at the property. We will definitely be back.

Room Tip: We proffered to stay I the suites within the lodge as opposed to the hilltop. For us it was more con...

We recently visited the Farm at Cape Kidnappers and wow, what an experience! We played the back nine holes at the world class golf course, we went clay shooting, horse riding, visited the Gannets, found the Kiwis on the Kiwi walk, and finally walked all the way back from “Flat Rock” to the lodge… Our room (1) was amazing; the service was second to none and the food is absolutely divine not to mention the wine from “Dry River”.

The highlight from all of the above was definitely the horse riding with Dzidra. Firstly, beautiful horses, spectacular views, she is so knowledgeable about the farm and was able to talk about the history, the region, soil formations, the Gannets and more… as must do if you visit.

Finally, a special thanks to Nick, Paul and the entire team, THANK YOU.
