“Absolute Perfection”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 June 2014

I knew when I arrived in the cover of dark to a glass of wine, cozy leather chair and roaring fireplace that I was going to enjoy every moment of my weekend at the Farm.

The Lodge itself has a beautiful, rustic farmhouse feel about it but the spectacular scenery and impeccable service is what makes The Farm so special.

For anyone visiting the Farm for the first time, I would highly recommend organising a Horse Trek with Dzidra. It's an unforgettable experience and the best way to take in the beauty of Cape Kidnappers!

A splendid location, beautifully appointed suites and staff whose ease of communication and welcome perfectly blended highest American -style standards and attention to detail with a gentle antipodean style made this a perfect destination in New Zealand - in fact throughout the globe. Kidnappers boasts a superb golf course but also many well thought out walking trails and a world class spa. The dining experience was outstanding with well prepared regional dishes and an excellent wine list. Sommelier Paul won my vote as 'best in Class'! I look forward to my next visit and also to visiting the sister property in Queenstown NZ.

You enter The Farm at Cape Kidnappers through a very ordinary farm gate and proceed up a long meadering and picturesque private road which becomes spectacular as you reach your destination, a wonderful lodge full of treasures with a view out over the golf links to the Pacific Ocean. Our party shared drinks in the immeasurably stylish lounge, full of ambience and interesting artworks, Frizzell paintings, Ralph Loren leather chairs. We were ushered onto the terrace for lunch; the service was impeccable, the wine list excellent and the food beautifully prepared and presented. We lingered over coffee, after which we were taken on a tour of the building; A stunning cellar, interesting lounge areas and outstanding decor. Definitely one for the bucket list.

My husband and I visited the Farm at Cape Kidnappers in April 2014, and every aspect of our stay was just wonderful. As others have mentioned, the accommodations, food and wine are top-notch. What we particularly enjoyed was the range of activities offered, which provided us with an opportunity to really appreciate the amazing views and the Farm setting. We went quad biking and horseback riding, and both were fantastic. Dzidra was our guide for the horseback riding, and despite both my husband and I being complete beginners, she was beyond patient and kind. We were able to see so much of the property that I don't think we otherwise would. Quad biking was a completely different type of adventure, and just as fun! Overall, the Farm at Cape Kidnappers is a lovely place to escape to -- only wish it were closer to our part of the world!

Everything about this place is very special:
- spectacular views
- luxurious (yet very tasteful) lodge and guest rooms
- outstanding food & wine
- welcoming & efficient staff
- a variety of exciting activities to choose from.
I've been lucky enough to have stayed at The Farm twice now (2011 & 2024) and I would recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect venue to celebrate a special occasion. The highlight of this weekend, for me, was the Kiwi Discovery Walk. It was fascinating to learn about the successful Kiwi breeding program and the chance to cuddle a Kiwi was priceless.
Yes, this Lodge is expensive, but it is very special. If you can afford it - do it - it is so worthwhile!
