We stayed here for one night as we had a function to go to in the area but were unable to stay where the event was being held. Upon arrival we were met by a very polite and helpful young lady who showed us to our room, room number 5. Lovely sized room, immaculately clean with quite a large bathroom, large flat screen tv on the wall and was a lovely temperature. We asked the lady in the bar to book as a taxi to take us to our function.which she did and it arrived right on time. We knew we would not be back till the early hours so it was handy that we were given a key to the entrance to the rear of the pub so not to disturb anyone. The bed was really comfy and we both had a great nights sleep. Breakfast in the morning was very tasty, full English, nice big pot of tea and coffee really set us up for the day. Chris who looked after us in the morning was really cheerful and made sure we were happy with everything. We only live 1/2 hour away from this pub, but we would definitley stay here again.

We came to visit our new Granddaughter for a few days and booked some rooms in the White Lion, just down the road from her new home. We
were made to feel very welcome. Rooms were very clean, bed was extremely comfy so had a great nights sleep. Terrific cooked breakfast - set me up for the day! Will definitely be staying again.

We came here for a walking event in torrential rain. Their speciality fish and chips was great which we had in a room set aside for us. The fire was very welcome and all the staff were great despite the dripping rain coming off the walking gear as people came in between walks. Beautiful pub dog also came to say hello.

We were met by Chris and Yolanda on arrival and immediately made to feel welcome. The room was excellent and the food being homemade was excellent. We were on our way to a conference in York and broke the journey at this establishment. This B&B put the hotel in York to shame even though the York hotel was twice the price.
We were so impressed we booked to stop on our way home. The second experience was as good as the first. Highly recommended. Chris and Yolanda took over this pub in January and have worked very hard to bring the pub to this very high standard. They are still improving it to add more rooms. Sue and Keith will be returning in the future.

Stayed here whilst visiting Burghley Horse Trials. Such friendly and welcoming hosts. Comfortable bedrooms with excellent beds. All very clean. Fantastic cooked breakfast. Ignore some of the poor reviews - the new owners took over earlier in year and have already transformed the place. Recommended

Just returned from a cycling tour and we stayed one night on 20th August. We were welcomed by Chris who stored our bikes in the garage overnight. The room was spotless and we soaked our aching legs in the deep bath. We were impressed with the delicious fish and chip super as coming from Hull we have high standards (joke ). The next morning after a great cooked breakfast we were treated to some card tricks by Chris . He did manage to pick pocket my watch but returned it. What a great place and will be back !
