“Great family holiday”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2014 via mobile

The park is very organised, well maintained and very family oriented. The rooms are very clean and have all the basic equipment you need. Great family features at the park include kids play park, animals that you can feed each night and movie nights! There are around 12 cabins and heaps of well-serviced camp sites with plenty of shade.

Overall we have had a great time and will definitely come again...hopefully next year!!

Cannot find the words to express how awesome this site is. Staff are very professional, prompt and friendly. Susan went out of her away to accommodate our booking for our family of 6. Beautiful shady camp sites. Kids loved feeding the very friendly animals at 6pm, the free movies under the stars, the visiting ducks and the jumping mat! Reception has all the info you need plus basic supplies. It neighbours a wine farm, easy walk for a nice glass of wine. Park is brilliantly situated for day trips. Washrooms and showers where sparkling clean. Despite park being full, never had to wait for a shower. Great laundry facilities. All campers where very respectful, our 4 kids all under 8 where able to have some freedom and us a nice break! Cant wait to come back again! Thank you Taunton and your wonderful staff! You truly are a cut above the rest!

We love this family friendly caravan park and come back every year.
From playing cricket on the open grassed area to the jumping pillow, playground, animal feeding and movies for the kids on the big screen this park ticks all the boxes to ensure a great holiday.
Great amenities very clean and the grounds are very well kept. Very big powered sites.
My only one negative (which is minor) is there is a new bakery van that comes by from Sunday to Monday beeping its horn all throughout the park at 7.55am in the morning waking you up. I like to sleep in on holidays but otherwise a great trip. My suggestion would be let guests know the van comes and that it will be at reception each morning from 8am if they want to buy anything no need to toot the horn through the whole park like a jiffy food van on a building site. I know other guests we met thought this was also odd and woke them up as well.
But in all a great time was had excellent friendly staff as always and so close to all the tourist attractions :)

We are pleased your family once again enjoyed our park facilities. This is the first time we have received any indication from any of our guests that the daily visits Monday to Friday during our holiday season from our delicious local French Bakery have not been welcomed and we thank you for your feedback

We stayed five nights to explore Marg. River area. The campsite is very well located, you have a great view to a beautiful landscape. The kids loved the playground with the huge trampolin. Overall our best campground in Australia so far!

We were lucky enough to get a late booking for a week over the xmas period in a caravan site. Our first time visit. We were very impressed with the large sites very friendly staff. The ablutions were always clean and well stocked with the essentials being attended to several times a day. Garbage was removed on a daily basis. We did not want to leave after our week and enquired if there was perhaps a cancellation so we could extend our stay. Susan went out of her way to make this happen even though we had to move sites. We got another weeks stay which was wonderful and right next to the fence where the animals are in the paddock. We ended up with the delightful black pig called Bullock visiting us every evening for his fruit veg and sweets. He really made our stay special and we look forward to our next visit in Feb

Thank you Myra and Rick so much for taking the time to write your review. We were so pleased to be able to accommodate you for a further week even though it is not our usual policy to move guests from one site to another during their stay at this busy time of the year we were happy to be able to accommodate you. Bullet, our very spoilt pig will be eagerly awaiting your return

This is a very relaxing place to stay. We had our motor home and were towing a Jeep and were given a large drive through site with two power points, a grey water waste outlet.

The managers were friendly and very helpful, allowing us to wash our motorhome, using bore water (not the drinking water).

Great facilities, ideal for families with a dozen or so self contained cabins available and a short walk to the adjacent 3 Oceans Vineyard which does magnificent breakfasts, brunches and lunches.

The only down sides we had were that we were parked among great shady trees that dropped heaps of leaves and branches on us and a staff member turned on a sprinkler on our clothes hanging on the clothes lines.

Despite travelling as just a couple we upgraded to a family cabin for an extra AUD 20$ per night. And what a difference. Rather than a host of beds and bunks, kitchen equipment and chairs all crammed into one big space (I won't call it a room) we had a well-proportioned dining area, a TV lounge and kitchenette and a separate room for sleeping and another to put our luggage in. There are also more cupboards and clothes storage places in the upgraded cabins and even better thicker curtains - which with dawn at 04:30 in a NE facing chalet is quite important. Even the shower was better - a purpose-made cabinet with a door rather than a nasty plastic curtain draped around a shower head. In addition to the kitchenette in the cabin the campsite has a shared camp kitchen with a BBQ barn, ovens and assorted utilities.
This region has diverse attractions being near to the coast for swimming and surfing, it sports a hosts of caves - some with ancient artefacts, many many major wine making enterprises, gourmet and middle-bracket dining (although very few cheap eateries), excellent walking (the 135km Cape to Cape) and lots of wildlife watching opportunities. Today from the C2C footpath we saw about 30+ dolphins rounding up fish working as a team and them picking them off as they neared the beach. Later we saw white-tailed Black Cockatoo (only found in this immediate area) and two fields absolutely crammed with kangaroos - it must have been a party! This, and our own resident kookaburra outside the cabin, makes it a good gig for foreigners. Our only disappointment was the fact that the red-tailed tropic birds we hoped to see at Sugarloaf Rock haven't turned up to nest this year.
The campsite hosts are amiable and knowledgeable about local attractions and an adjacent winery, shop and a posh restaurant offers discounts to Taunton Farm customers. It is one of the only places we have come across in WA to offer free wifi. Cowaramup (known locally as Cow Town) is 5 minutes drive from the campsite and Margaret River is about 15 minutes away. The nearest accessible beaches are around Gracetown but were closed while we were there as a shark had killed a surfer the previous week.
There is animal feeding on the farm each late afternoon which proved an attraction for the children on the campsite. The reception sells only a modest range of items but this does include BBQ packs. A two km walking track from the site proved interesting one evening when we saw not only many kangaroos, ring necked parrots and a field full of Ibis, but also (and I kid you not) a camel!
By the way. If you like to lie in bed peacefully until late each morning you may eventually turn against the laughing kookaburra and his many friends!

Room Tip: Upgrade to a family cabin
