“A cute and romantic place to stay”
Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

The hotel is literally by the lake. If you seat on the terrace the lake is 30 meters away from you. You can see the ducks swimming and watch the runners run by in the morning. A morning stroll around the lake before breakfast is a must (30 minutes for an easy walk).the hotel interior is very welcoming and comfortable. The rooms are nice but be sure to get one with a balcony. The rooms that have only a window are much less recommended . The bathroom are simple and roomy. Some of them don't have a hook to hang the shower head.
The hotel has a nice wellness area with dry and wet sauna's and jacuzzi. There's also a small gym. You can get a massage there but you rather not. 3 of my friends described the experience as "the worst massage they have ever had, if you can call those pinching and slapping a massage at all". But other then that - the spa is very enjoyable.
The hotel restaurant is very good too. Breakfast is very rich, and dinner is good too. The hotel staff is very nice and friendly.
It's a great place to get back and rest at the end of a hiking day in the surrounding area in the summer. A true gem.

If you want to stay on Strba's lake, you have actually 3 hotels to choose. However, if your budget is limited and you want for your kids familiar accommodation, hotel Solisko fits best your requirements. Parking place takes the place around the hotel, few steps from reception. Stuff on reception are very helpful. Rooms are large, well heated and sunny and of course each day cleaned. Internet, sledges, ski bus, spa is for free for hotel guests. Regarding the spa, one thing that I miss is the swimming pool. You can also get massages. And the best at the end - restaurant "Al Lago". You can choose from various slovak or italian foods. Kids love pastas and they will get them. Another great think is the children playground just one wall next to the restaurant. You can watch your kids through the windows or the door. Really priceless!
And what would I say, if you asked me if I would choose this hotel for the next time? Yes, with pleasure!

Room Tip: Book deluxe rooms for beautiful view

Prior to booking this hotel we were thinking of finding boutique hotel with perfect cuisine, service and equipment, situated in nice environment of Strba´s lake. Kempinsky High Tatras was over our budget so we decided to book Solisko.
After nice welcome from a receptionist, we were given two rooms with twin beds beds on the 1st floor out of 2. The room ( the cornering room on the left side) was purposely equipped, had all the necessary equipment, with balcony facing the lake with nice view. It was room for disabled so there was plenty of space. The first downside was an empty bottle of liquid soap in the bathroom so we had to ask for a refilling.
Including a halfboard we went to restaurant to have a dinner. Instead of Swedish tables, we were given already prepared 4 courses. The following day during a breakfast we could choose one of three main meals. But back to the dinner. Overall, all meals were tasty and nicely prepared thanks to well known chief cooker. But all that was weakened by poor service. Each course was brought to us within 30-45 minutes. In spite of the fact that all the tables were occupied, they were just 2 persons to serve them. No sommelier when choosing a wine.
Our dining frustration was then recovered by tranquil night walk around the lake. It showed us that the biggest advantage of this amenties was, besides others, its location. What is more, every hundred metres of the walk there were sport accessories that encouraged you to do some basic exercise. The next day a hotel ski bus took us right on the nearby ski slope (funny thing - the driver was the chief cooker) and then came to us on a phone call. We didn´t try the wellness but I thing it was rather compact.
Overall, the hotel offers perfect location for a reasonable price and is regarded as a family hotel. However, a weak restaurant service discourage those seeking something more.

Room Tip: try choosing the room with a lake view

Marvellous location directly by the lake "Strbske Pleso", very spacious, modern and clean rooms and excellent friendly staff. Very nice restaurant downstairs with separate playroom for children, very good choice for breakfast. Spa is quite small and closes quite early. Overall, above the expectations!

Room Tip: ask for the room with lake view

Stayed over the New Year's Eve and for some skiing. The hotel is walking distance from the town center and has an amazing view, located by the lake. People in the reception were very helpful from the start. The rooms are clean, fresh and spacey. Excellent choice of food at breakfast and very tasteful meals in the restaurant overall.

We've chosen to spend the New Years Eve there as well with the risk of too many kids and tired parents.however this proved to be wrong. The evening was very well organized, with a number of guest performers and wonderful meals. It was a bit crowded for such an event. However, the time flew very quickly, we almost missed the countdown.

It's sure a family/kids friendly place, but by no means in a disturbing way. You will also need transportation to the local slopes, this is thankfully provided by the hotel ski bus.

Overall, above average organization and superb management. Keep up the good work!

I went for a quiet solo trip, and was a little bit overwhelmed by the number of families with children. But of course this might be nice for a family with children.

The location is precisely situated at one of the most scenic spots of a scenic area. The only drawback is that the bigger and grander Hotel Kempinski is next door, and sometimes you feel like the second-best as you pass it by.

The little spa closes rather early, so there's no way to enjoy it quietly after the little ones go to sleep. And there's no door or wall separating the "quiet" area from the other parts of the spa.

Breakfast is especially nice. Other food is good too, but meals may seem a little bit limited: not much for vegetarians, and lots of salt and cream in most foods.

Helpful service is above average for this country and area.

Room Tip: If there's a choice, the side facing the lake and mountains probably gives a better view, but th...

Excellent facility; very clean, even shinning. Outstanding location. Excellent food. Very friendly and service minded manpower.
Not expensive at all. Nice mini Spa (they call it "Wellness"), open a few hours in the evening, but huge after a long trek in the Tatras. We took a Deluxe room facing the lake, and the autumn views from the window (very small window for such big room) were unbelievable.
In a stupid accident I broke the night lamp glass: they charged me Euro 20 for it. I still do not know if it was fair.... perhaps too much. Anyhow: I will remember my stay there looking forward to have the opportunity to return.

Room Tip: Second floor facing the lake
