“A warm Irish welcome and a handy location”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

Kathleen and PJ greet you with big warm smiles every time they see you. Each question I have asked whether about rain, local customs, food, mythology, walks, drives, pubs and many more subjects has always received a good answer. The rooms are all clean and very comfortable and the marvelous breakfasts include Kathleen's gorgeous breads," Ambassador " bread is my favorite. Annascaul is a lovely village and you get good views of it and the fantastic mountains from the 4 Winds. The local is full of the history of antarctic explorer Tom Crean. A short drive will get you to Dingle. If you are touring or walking the" Dingle way " the 4 Winds is a great place to stay, I try to get there if at all possible on my frequent trips to Ireland.

Room Tip: the rear apartment has best views of mountains village and sea.

We have been staying with Kathleen and P.J. for the past 6 years. We usually stay 5 to 8 days and tour west coast from there. They are great hosts. The veiws from there are great and for nice walks from the B&B. Kathleen and P.J. are very accommodating. You also might be able to get P.J. to take you on a scenic walk. We always enjoyed sitting outside in the evening with them and learning local history with a cup of tea. We could never go to Ireland without staying at the Four Winds. It is only about 2 hours from Shannon airport. Thank you Kathleen and P.J. who we consider to be good freinds as well as great hosts. Harold and Joyce

A walker along the Dingle Way from Camp may be excused, upondescending the long road into Annascaul, for wondering about the brisk wall uphill to The Four Winds B&B. Be advised: it is worth every step! In five minutes, you are at Kathleen O'Connor's modern B&B, with intelligently designed, private rooms; gorgeous views of the surrounding hills and fields; fresh air in every direction; and a lovely, airy solarium sitting room. After a refreshing cup of tea and cleaning up, you can amble downhill to an excellent pub meal at the somewhat quirky but really charming South-Pole Inn—a dinner that we found considerably above the routine. And after a completely quiet, wholly comfortable night's sleep, Kathleen welcomes you into that solarium for breakfast breads we will never forget: would that she would mail-order! Ask her, as well, to show you panoramic photographs of the scenery at Christmas, during one of the area's rare snowfalls: enchanting. A very fine way station in an inviting, beautifully sited Dingle town. Thank you for the hospitality, Kathleen.
