If you travel south toward Switzerland and wish to stop for a while in nice place my advice is: choose Rottweil. The best place to have a rest there and to stay overnight would be Garni-Hotel Sailer with comfortable rooms and good kitchen. close to the centre of town.

Room Tip: It's not important whether you take (get) a room in main house or a bit distant to it, both will...

We wanted a true German village stay while driving through the small roads of the Black Forest and visiting Hohenzollen Castle. The hotel Garni-Hotel Sailer was very nice, catering to German business travelers. We had free parking (very unusual in Europe) a friendly English speaking staff and a very good breakfast. The hotel is on a quiet street with a short walk to the village. We stayed for 2 nights the first of October. The village was very German, don't waste time with the tourist office, not very helpful nor informative. The people are very helpful and friendly. We do recommend a stop in Rottweil and yes the "dog" breed originated here.

There is a great family run German restaurant (some English spoken) but we managed to order a fabulous meal. The attmosphere was great (in door). I would highly recommend, the only problem I don't remember the name! The location is as follows - walk to town (from the hotel) turn left onto the large square going toward the bridged area. Go under the bridge turn right for a couple of blocks. The restaurant is across from a church. Eat inside.

Room Tip: We booked a double room delux. A nice size room.

My wife and I stayed here for one night in April. We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, when the hotel was closed for a few hours. However, a member of staff had contacted us beforehand and provided us with the door security number and left our room key in the Reception area for us to collect. Our room was a good size and in particular the bathroom which (like the bedroom) was clean and had a very good shower. Parking is mainly around the rear of the hotel although we chose to take the opportunity to park in the underground park for the sake of several euros. I have to say that we took this decision based upon seeing a group of youths hanging around opposite the hotel during the evening.
The hotel staff that we encountered were very helpful and provided us with a good recommendation for an evening meal. The Breakfast room was on the top floor and was a nice 'space' to enjoy our morning meal. Plenty of choice including eggs to order.
Rottweil is a lovely medieval town and can easily be seen in a day. However, be warned, major roadworks are being undertaken at this time in the centre of town and as a result, it loses a little of its charm. That said, still well worth a visit.

Garni hotel in central Rottweil. Rooms look very new and are generally clean. Nothing wrong at all with this hotel, nothing exceptionally to say either. Would definitely stay again if i was looking for a simple place to stay in town.

Very clean and comfortable room, friendly staff, really good breakfast. My only complaint is no air conditioning and we stayed during a heat wave in Germany. Also a bit difficult to find because of construction in the middle of town which the GPS didn't help with.
