Burg Crass is the oldest preserved building in Eltville and part of the structure dates from the 12th century. The hotel is surrounded by a large park and features a garden restaurant, both with splendid views of the Rhine river. The whole setup is rather charming.
Reception was warm and friendly and we could access our room immediately even though it was only 1pm. The room was large and comfortable, while the bath room could have been slightly bigger. An odd detail was that the wardrobe did not have any hangers, but since we stayed only one night we didn't bother to ask for any.
Breakfast is rich and very good, with eggs prepared freshly according to order. If there were fresh orange juice, it would be perfect.
Overall, an enjoyable experience, but (as others have noted) not exactly cheap. Well, Eltville is a favorite excursion place for wealthy Frankfurters and features few hotels. It is a charming village. So the price simply reflects market realities ... Having said that I don't think we paid too much. The beautiful setting and personal service are worth it.
