“Food is a wow”
Reviewed 5 February 2014 via mobile

Spent three nights here at a business conference. We enjoyed many superb meals, breakfast, lunch, dinner coffee break food, etc. I've been to many conferences and can't think when I've had better food. Definitely a destination restaurant and a great spot to have your event.

Room was modern and newly renovated. Had balcony with sliver view of the frozen River. Price was right. Very nice.

Having stayed at this hotel in August 2013 the place is great. Newly renovated and very clean. It is situated on the Richelieu River, so if you ask for a view, all the better. The restaurant is pricey, but great food. The staff was very friendly. We do travel a lot, and we would recommend
this hotel for your stay.

Room Tip: The fourth floor...

I feel like I need to start this by saying I'm generally not overly picky about hotels. I look for clean and comfortable, hopefully with decent service. Anything beyond that is a perk, and I'm not normally the one microanalysing the faults.

Don't get fooled by the nice first impression the lobby makes. This hotel is physically quite nice and the recent renovations are evident. Too bad they didn't reno the service and cleaning staff as well, or remove the large neon sign on the side of the building by the high way.

As I initially mentioned the decor is very nice. Everything is newish, quasi-rainfall shower, tiles, new carpeting, well decorated. They also seem to have a very nice reception and celebration area for weddings or events. The hotel is actually almost an afterthought to the main facility. It's off to one side, past the banquet hall and office type spaces in it's own wing. Unfortunately the front desk is just outside the banquet space and we had to duck through the wedding party to check in. We also appeared to be the only non-wedding guests. I suspect this greatly impacted the service we received as the staff were focused on the wedding.

The building is also awkwardly designed. None of the balconies look at the water, instead most of the 3rd and 4th floors look out at the bar's roof top patio. With a 30 foot bridge or some parcour skills we could have walked right across. The result was music thumping into our room most of the first night, and continually closed blinds so the whole patio couldn't see straight in.

These parts (and the neon sign on the parking side of the building) I could have gotten past, but the room itself was not clean and we generally had to fight through the wedding guests or hunt for staff to get service. When we showed up the carpet had clearly not been vacuumed, and dirty dishes were left on the balcony. There were hairs by the sink and either black mold or severely accumulated dirt in the grout on the tile shower floor. The cleaning was actually bad enough (and the hotel small enough) that I was concerned mentioning it would result in things being "borrowed"by cleaning staff or further invisible revenge being taken if I reported the conditions to the desk. We decided to see if the room service improved the next day once the wedding departed. We also were only staying two nights so figured we could tough it out.

No improvement the next day. In fact our in room water glasses and coffee cups weren't even switched and the others were still present on the balcony. Beyond the bed being made, fresh towels (even though we hung ours up) and shower goodies restocked there was no sign of any cleaning.

Staff were generally some what helpful after we asked for something specific (ie clean glasses) but did not go out of their way to be helpful or friendly. They also didn't seem at all concerned about our issues getting at the front desk to check in, nor were we told about any other amenities on the property or the AAA rate.

We decided to skip the restaurant, based on price to what you got comparisons, despite the temptation as foodies of trying it because of good reviews. We're both okay with expensive dinner bills but this just seemed a little too high for the offerings. Also given the amazing food we experiences at each of the other 2 places in Beloeil (the Fondue place and Cholaterie) I don't feel like we missed out at all.

Be warned that this place is close to the highway so it is a couple kilometers walk into the main old village.

I'd like to think we might have had a different experience if we'd part of the wedding (basically your own private hotel!) or come at a different time, but I am not rushing back to find out....

Comfy beds and in room coffee maker though.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a more private balcony..... not sure if they exist but worth trying.

We didn't know where we would stop for the evening and were being chased by a rain storm. We lucked into this place and found everything comfortable and welcoming. Had we not had other accomodations waiting for us on the road, we would have happily stayed on here. We had already had dinner so did not have the opportunity to try the restaurant. They even reminded us of the AAA discount.

At first glance the place looked scary. The balconies face the parking lot and not the river. The exterior of the hotel needs some serious renovations, some landscaping perhaps. However, the inside is very nice. Lobby area decorated with very modern touches, rooms we had were very contemporary. Bed was clean and comfortable, bathrooms were clean and modern.
I would stay here again. The price was reasonable.
We were there for a wedding so we had a block of rooms reserved on the third floor (same floor as reception).
Front desk staff very friendly, on-site restaurant very nice although we found nothing simple to eat on the menu but there is a Tim Horton's right around the corner for coffee and breakfast.
Hotel was very easy to get to from New York.

Thank you very much for your review. Since 2012, we have renovated all the inside of the hotel (rooms, restaurant, meeting rooms). This summer,we are happy to start with the renovations of the outside of the hotel. By the end of the year, all the renovations should be done. We hope to see you again!

Spent 2 nights while in the vicinity on business. Hotel was suggested by the local company.

+: room I had (306) was modern, good sized
+/- bathroom very modern with rainfall nozzle etc. No bath though if that is of interest
+ very friendly and bilingual staff
+ quiet, good soundproofing
- ground floor renovations and some conference rooms on several floors underway (March 2013)
- although restaurant menu was limited, quite avant guarde in nature with no "just grab a bite" items on the menu. Would be great for a drawn out cozy dinner though.
- food expensive (but reflects high quality)
- no other restaurants in walking distance, have to use automobile.
- beautiful view of the river.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a river view

So we hadn't made reservations for a place to stay as we travelled from Niagara to Quebec City and found ourselves at Hostellerie Rive Gauche on a Tuesday nite in October. The weather was wet, cold and windy and the gracious welcome at the reception was what we needed. The evening prix fixe 5 course menu was elegant, well prepared and presented. Wine list was comprehensive..if a little overpriced in some categories. It's a lovely dining room with professional level service and attention.
