Upon arriving unexpectedly at this country we were met by courteous staff and ushered to our room on the second floor. We ate in the dining room enjoying a very tasty Prime Rib dinner, well prepared and large portions: more food than I needed. The bedroom was very large almost enough to feel a bit lost. Not super cozy or personal. The beds were very comfortable with feather bed toppers and duvets. I was too warm in the night for my body temperature. The bathroom was adequate and the towels were deluxe and very fresh. Overall we had an enjoyable stay. The breakfast had many food choices. Not sure why the fresh fruit tasted like vinegar and I had to waste it.

Room Tip: There is no elevator so either ask for assistance or struggle with your luggage up and down two flights of stairs.

Just 20 minutes from Stratford and its many overpriced hotels and B+Bs, this lovely, modern inn offers excellent value in an idyllic setting. I stayed in Room 210, a large well appointed room which offered every amenity. It was very clean, the bedding was spotless, and the view lovely. Free parking and WiFi and a complimentary continental breakfast were included. There was a large tv, minifridge, and inroom coffee service. I was welcomed very professionally at reception and made to feel valued and important. The inn has an onsite restaurant/bar with outdoor patio.
I consider this a very impressive facility, and can recommend it without reservation.

Room Tip: Room 210 faced south and overlooked a vast expense of green.

We opted to stay here while attending the Stratford Shakespeare Festival, a 10/15 minute drive away. We loved our stay in this old stone town, with many fine buildings, The Inn was very well run, courteous, helpful staff, and our room was super-comfortable. It is farming country hereabouts, and "the corn was as high as an elephant's eye" in the fields visible from our window. Only jarring note was that toilet and shower was indeed private, but the wash-basin was in the room, a motel-like touch that belied the $150 per night tariff. We ate in the restaurant one night, extraordinarily good cuisine, especially my lamb, and the desserts were divine.

The Stone Willow has large, well lit rooms. Our room was clean, had a small fridge, and the sink was outside the bathroom, which is very useful for two people. The continental breakfast was good, if not stellar. There is cereal, baked goods, including home made muffins; yogurt, make your own waffles, mainly melon fruit salad, and good coffee. Considering it is included, that's pretty nice. The deal breaker for us is that our room had a communicating door; and it was like sharing our room with another couple. We could hear their discussion of when to leave for the show, hear big yawns, hear the tv game show, etc. That is unacceptable. They were not having a party. This needs to be fixed, or we would never stay in such a room again. Not all rooms have communicating doors; we asked. Unfortunately, they were full up, so we couldn't change. The heavy duvet on the bed, while luxurious, was too hot for us. Simply by asking, it was changed to regular sheet and blanket. Very good service. The air conditioner is fairly old and loud. Really too bad about these faults, because otherwise the place is a real find in this area. St. Mary's is also called 'Stonetown', and has a couple of blocks of beautiful old stone stores downtown. There is a great little booklet, very well done, to guide you on a walk. (You will see the original 'Eaton' store! And it's not quite who you think) There is a really nice 13km nature trail on old railway right of way which is a great walk, and you can do shorter sections. It is convenient to Stratford, about 15-20 min. away on good road. We would definitely stay here again, but only if guaranteed a room without communicating door.

Room Tip: Stay away from rooms with communicating doors!!

Stayed one night. The room was large with two Queen size beds and lots of amenities. The room was impeccably clean ( I make a point of checking under the bed and along the corners.) We did not eat at the restaurant but did have the complimentary breakfast which was a little disappointing. It was interesting to watch the reaction of other guests as the arrived for the breakfast. Over all a great place to stay.
