Booked a Family Room which to our delight turned out to be one large twin room with a large Double room, interconnected with a hall way and large bathroom. Beautifully appointed with 2 mini bars stocking local beers, ciders and fruit juices (which is good to promote), fresh coffee and enough choice. The double room was a little stuffy as no opening window but left the bathroom window open to let air through. Pillows a little hard and 3 person to have a shower had a cold one, but then its hard to please everyone, so we were ok. Very friendly service from being shown to our room and its amenities, to the service at evening dinner.
Very accommodating to children and we were all made to feel welcome.
Evening meal in the restaurant was good and again very friendly service.
Breakfast ok, but could have done with being a little bit more choice of uncooked food, but nice juices and fresh bread.
Overall nice stay and excellent location for visiting Ludlow and Leominster. Would recommend for families wanting room, space for parents and children to have privacy and lovely welcoming staff.

Room Tip: Room 104 and 105 excellent, quiet and very comfortable

We have stayed here twice and I'm sorry that I've only just got round to writing a review for this gem! We used to live in Shropshire (not far from here) and felt that living there meant that we couldn't justify a stay at The Clive - but now we can! The rooms are very stylish and comfortable and really great value for money. We LOVE the food in the restaurant - especially breakfast - although on one day on our last stay we deliberately missed it so that we could take breakfast in the Ludlow Food Centre cafe next door which was exceptional! (it's all part of the same 'complex'). They always use local ingredients and cook in imaginative and delicious ways! We will always stay here when we come back to beautiful Shropshire to see friends - it's in a great location and they couldn't be nicer and more welcoming. Highly highly recommended.

On our way to Ludlow Saturday Market we saw The Ludlow Food Centre and stopped for a mooch around. At the same time we noticed The Clive Restaurant next door so popped in for lunch. It was really nice and friendly, the service was excellent even though they were very busy.

Our starters were great but our mains were just average. The wine was of a good quality and we had a nice time. Would we go back? Yes we would definitely give it another go.

We didn't see the rooms so can't comment.

We recently (March 2014) stayed here for 3 nights the rooms are large and well fitted out, we were going to be very late arriving so rang ahead when we arrived it was suggested after we were shown to our room if we wanted a snack to go back to the main building which we did and were promptly told they had set up a table by the fire which was much appreciated. You can walk into Ludlow - it's about 3 miles across the park & fields - we decided to do this and it was well worth it arriving in Ludlow at the back of the Castle. Just one word of warning we decided that we would get a taxi back to the Clive but finding these in Ludlow was just impossible, after we had walked round the town several times taking in the railway station & Tourist Office we took the advice of a bus driver and waited for a bus, best thing to do, dropped us outside The Clive where we flopped into our lovely cosy room and put the kettle on!

Room Tip: We were in room 106 which was good

This is a restaurant with rooms just outside of Ludlow (too far to walk). The rooms are large, more like suites with a settee and armchair, desk, tea/coffee and free wi-fi. Some have twin/super-king beds. The restaurant serves WONDERFUL food, reasonably priced as is the wine. Staff are efficient and cheerful. Excellent breakfast. Great value for money. For me beds were a bit soft.

Room Tip: If you want a super-king bed, make this clear when you book. No lift.

Its the third time we have visited this restaurant and on each occasion it has been simply first class.

The food, service, and atmosphere cant be faulted and I would have difficulty in finding anything to criticize!

This hotel is about 2 miles from the centre of Ludlow. The rooms are at the back of the restaurant and bar and if its wet take an umbrella as you will get wet!
The room we were in was lovely, wooden floors, high beams and a large comfortable bed. We had a good nights sleep as it was very quiet until the next morning at 7am when the noise from the next room started, we gave up trying to sleep after 30 minutes as it sounded as if they were having a children's party!
Breakfast was a bit disappointing in some ways. No croissants, no fruit choice, just a bowl of mixed melon, however the cooked breakfast was very nice with plenty of coffee and toast.
This place is definitely worth a visit when you're in the area. The evening meal we had in the restaurant was excellent, the beef was delicious.
