Peñafiel is a small town with a population of 12,000 and is famous for its castle on a hill. The castle has the name of Castillo de los Tellez Giron and is one of the most beautiful castles in Spain. The tower in the middle is called the Torre del Homenaje. The castle was built in the 10th century and was renovated in the 14th and 15th centuries. The castle is now the home of the Wine Museum of Valladolid, where there are interactive displays that explain how wine is produced. The whole region is full of wineries.
