Barbados is one of the best conference destinations in the entire Caribbean . It has excellent conference facilities compared to its neighbours and has been home to conferences such as:
United Nations Conference on Environment & Development
Caribbean Tourism Organisation’s Annual Tourism Conference (CTC)
Florida Caribbean Cruise Association Conference
Caribbean Heads of Government Conference
The list is very extensive.
What is more is that Barbados has airlift coming into the island with the top airlines such as British Airways, American Airlines, Virgin Atlantic and Air Canada. This airlift complements Barbados as conference destination and it is one of the reasons why Barbados hosts so many prestigious events.
The premiere conference facility is the Sherbourne Conference Centre. It has won several awards for the Caribbean ’s Leading Conference Centre at the World Travel Awards. It has 164 000 sq. ft and is fully air-conditioned with access for the physically challenged, the centre boasts of state-of-the-art communications equipment with WiFi connectivity as well as multilingual translation equipment. With over 11 meeting rooms, the facility also has a Garden theatre and on-site dining facilities catering to most dietary needs. Sherbourne Conference Centre is a division of Barbados Conference Services Limited. Having hosted global conferences for the United Nations, U.S. President Bill Clinton and Caribbean Heads of Government, the Caribbean Tourism Organization and others; Sherbourne Centre accommodates more than 1,200 people, including 25,000 square feet of exhibition space. The 10,470 sq. ft. Main Hall and 7,584 sq. ft. Frangipani Room can accommodate 1,000 theatre-style and 850 classroom-style. For smaller meetings, the 1,444 sq. ft. Bougainvillea and Poinsettia rooms can each hold 200. The centre’s stylish restaurant and lounge can comfortably seat 200, and the Marigold suite of rooms host up to 260.
Newly added to Barbados' list of outstanding centres is the Hilton Barbados. Hilton Barbados boasts a 10,000-sq.-foot Hilton Meetings complex, complete with a boardroom, three meetings rooms that can be divided into six breakout rooms and a 6,200 sq. ft. Grand Ballroom with a 500-person capacity. Meeting planners and attendees alike are impressed by the Hilton's meeting facilities. A special group registration area along with our Hilton Meetings and Business Centre assist attendees with expedited service. What technically makes Hilton better than Sherbourne is that Hilton has 350 rooms to complement its meeting facilities while there is no accommodation available at Sherbourne.
From trade shows and conventions to seminars and workshops, the selection of venues provides a choice of settings to suit your agenda. Hotels and conference facilities can provide all the equipment needed for your event; even a dedicated liaison to coordinate support services. With special group rates available at many hotels, excellent value can be found in convenient settings, where fine service and hospitality make groups feel at home. And when the business is over, there is all of Barbados to enjoy: exquisite beaches, fine dining, a wide range of recreation, tours and attractions, duty-free shopping, party cruises and much more.
