Part of being on vacation in Paradise Island is spending some time browsing and shopping in many of the local stores and shopping areas.  Nassau Paradise Island, has many unique and interesting items to offer visitors who have traveled from near and far.

One of the most famous shopping areas in Nassau, just over the bridge from Paradise Island, is the Straw Market.  The market is a place where a huge variety of different things can be purchased.  Some examples of what can be found at the Straw Market are fresh fruits and vegetables, baskets, handbags and mats made of straw, clothing, jewelry, and a huge variety of other handmade items.

Visiting the Straw Market is more than a quick shopping trip… it’s a form of entertainment for visitors, and it can take quite a few hours to see everything this large market has to offer.  The market is open every day of the week from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  However, on Sundays some of the vendors of the market may be flexible with their hours of operation.

Also downtown is Bay Street where you'll find bargains on luxury items like jewelry, perfume, liquor, crystal and china home goods, sunglasses, luggage and more -and everything is duty free.  You can easily walk from one store to another and then grab some lunch at a local restaurant nearby.

Near the cruise ship dock called Prince George Wharf and you will find an indoor market similiar to the Straw Market called Festival Place.  There you will find straw items, woodcarvings, jewelry, local food items and live music.

Just over the bridge on Paradise Island there is the popular “Craft Center” where local artists have booths in which their creations are for sale.  All sorts of unique work can be found here, as well as great gifts or souvenir items.  The Craft Centre is located near the Hurricane Hole Marina.  Within walking distance is Marina Village a quaint outdoor shopping area with unique shops and restaurants offering  jewelry, resort wear clothing, art and leather goods.
