This tall tower "monument" stands on a hill at the side of the road just before Williamstown on Little Exuma. There is a plaque describing it. and a stairway (with a rail) that you can climb up the side of the hill to reach the base of the tower. Also beside the tower is an old cannon mounted there. From this view, you can see the ocean on one side, and looking back can see the huge salt pond on the other side. In the salt pond, you can see where the remnants of walls used to be when they would rake the salt into different areas of the pond.
This is a good photo opp for travelers as well as a bit of history to see how the people of Exuma let travelling ships know that on this island, they could purchase salt -- a valued commodity at that time.
