Mexico City offers many fun, interesting, and educational things for families to do with children.  Kids, especially those who have never been to Mexico, find the city's size, history, culture, and architecture fascinating.   But for structured activities, Parque Zoologico de Chapultepec, one of Mexico's best zoos, is always a hit.   The zoo is quite large and located near the lake in Chapultepec Park near the city's Zona Rosa neighborhood.  It's most famous residents are its giant pandas, which were the first to be bred in captivity outside of China.  Entrance to the zoo is free.

Chapultepec Park also offers a number of other fun activities for kids, including pony rides and row boat and bicycle rentals. The Park is a popular spot for families to have picnics or relax in the shade, and small children will enjoy the park's petting zoo and playground equipment.  Castillo de Chapultepec, or Chapultepec Castle, is also located in the park.  The mansion was once the home of the French Emperor of Mexico and today houses El Museo Nacional de Historia , Mexico's National History Museum housing some of the country's most precious artifacts.

For people travelling with kids, El Museo del Niño is an interactive museum the whole family will enjoy. It has a lot of activities that help kids to learn by playing. Inside this museum  you will find an IMAX movie theater, the Domo and different exhibits. While visiting this museum kids can do all sorts of different activities, ranging from laying down on a nail bed to producing and broadcasting their own radio show to all the museum visitors.  This museum is also located in Chapultepec Park.
