Day of the Dead Taking hold of a very important cultural day, the city of Playa del Carmen comes alive for November 1 to 3. Xcaret holds a three-day cultural festival in its parque at night with great shows that explain the significance and rituals associated with this November 1 holiday.
Taste of Playa This destination event highlights the creativity and cultural influences of chefs throughout the Rivieria Maya who have helped to put many of the Riviera Maya cities on the map for residents and visitors. As an annual event, local businesses organize a huge festival open to the public where over 40 restaurants gather in the city center to share thier tastes with foodies from all over the world. The event is held in the month of November each year. It is an unforgettable festival, the only food event with the backdrop of the Caribbean Ocean.
Riviera Maya Scuba Diving Photo Contest For those who love to dive and snorkel, this is a photographer's dream. The event is education and diving focussed with photography seminars each day during the event, and diving in the afternoons so that divers can test their skills while underwater. With Playa del Carmen located on the 2nd Largest Barrier Reef in the world and within the Mesoamerican Corridor that has hundreds of kilometers of divable caverns and caves, this is sure to be a winner with the diving community. This event is held the first week of December and includes great stay and event packages for scuba divers. Novices and advanced photograpers welcome!
