Volunteers offer informative guided walks around town most days of the week. Proceeds go to local charities. On Saturdays there are tours to outlying haciendas etc., on Sundays the popular House and Garden tours and once a month, also on Sunday, the local Audubon Society organises an outing for bird watchers. Independent walkers are advised to check out the Charco del Ingenio botanical garden.

The Historical Walking tours of San Miguel are sponsored by Patronato Pro Ninos, a local charity which provides free medical and dental services for poor children in the area. The tours take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 10 AM, starting in front of the Parroquoia church. The donation is 150 pesos. Private  walking tours can also be arranged by contacting Betse at 415-152-2380 or Fred at 415-150-6356.
