Though air-conditioned hotels are always nice, you’re going to want to get outside and enjoy the 80-degree temperatures. These are Nuevo Vallarta’s most popular outdoor activities:

  • Swimming- Nuevo Vallarta is nestled in the Bay of Banderas, ideal for swimming because of its protected nature. Many swimmers go to the La Manzanilla beach, but as the water is warm and safe everywhere in the bay, it’s often easiest just to go swimming in front of your hotel.
  • Golf- The top-rated El Tigre Golf Club at Paradise Village is where the pros go, and has a large clubhouse with locker rooms and a restaurant.
  • Boating- Marina Nuevo Vallarta holds over 250 boats, and is fully equipped for sailing and yachting. Many beachfront residences and condominiums even have private docks. In March, the four day Regatta de Banderas attracts international competitors - and spectators, as well.
  • Fishing- Tuna fish and dorados are what you will most likely snag in the Banderas. The best way to fish in Nuevo Vallarta is to rent a boat and equipment from the marina; there are also a number of small fishing villages with rentals if you don’t mind taking a short drive along the coast.
  • Other water sports- Snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, windsurfing, and water skiing can all be arranged through hotels in Nuevo Vallarta. Most hotels have a bureau of recreation – just ask at the front desk.
