Visitors to Sault Ste. Marie have a number of options for getting around the city and the rest of the country; they include travelling by car, bus, train, and taxi.

A personal vehicle is the most convenient form of transportation available in Sault Ste. Marie, as it allows the greatest freedom and flexibility in travel. Many visitors choose to fly into the Sault Ste. Marie International Airport (airport code YAM), which is located about 13 kilometers (8 miles) outside of the city center, and stop by one of the car rental agencies based around the airport to pick up a vehicle for their trip.  A detailed map of the city can be useful in exploring the area. 

There are public bus routes that connect some of the major areas around town. Marie Transit Centre.  The International Bridge Bus connects Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, to Sault Ste Marie, Michigan.
