If you happen to be in Sudbury and you don't have your snowmobile or fishing rod, why not check out the Sudbury Theatre Centre?  You can catch true professional theatre productions throughout the year at quite reasonable prices.  The theatre is located in the downtown area on Shaugnessy Street. 

Another option for English language performing arts is Theatre Cambrian, a non-profit charitable community theatre company offering quality entertainment in Northern Ontario since 1985. Theatre Cambrian operates year-round! Each season, Theatre Cambrian produces four dinner theatre productions, three main stage musicals a March Break Dramafest, their Summertime Stage youth drama camp and their children’s theatre company, Kids’ Curtain produces one main stage musical.

Greater Sudbury also features Théâtre du Nouvel-Ontario: a professional theatre company dedicated to the creation of new works, to Franco-Ontarian dramaturgy and the presentation of mainly Canadian works.  Established in 1971, the TNO creates, presents and welcomes theatre productions for the cultural and artistic benefit of its community.  Over the last 38 years, the TNO has won numerous local and national awards and distinctions, including two Masques for best French-Canadian production handed out by the Académie québécoise du théâtre. Season runs September to May and productions now feature English sub-titles.

Also, you may be interested to know that this northern "hard-rock" city also hosts Cinéfest , a unique film festival for the film goer who likes to look beyond Hollywood.  Held at various movie theatres throught the city.
