This very old spring is hidden in the woods of St Helens park. It was discovered a few years ago and was built before 1860 as it is shown on the ordinance survey map of that year. There is a water fountain nearby on the path, and it seems possible that the spring fed the fountain as there is evidence of a couple of old pipes that may route to the fountain tank. As of yet it has not been possible to date the structure. The water is very drinkable and at a constant 4 degrees.
