The sinking of The Titanic is at the heart of everyone from Southampton. Most of her crew were from here. Nearly every street lost someone to the disaster. One street was demolished after every single house lost one or two members of their family. It was the city's 9/11! As such, a walk around Southampton has numerous ghosts and memorials with stories and sites associated with all things Titanic, from The White Star offices where crowds protested their grief, the Grapes public house where a drinking bout resulted in saved lives of several of the crew to a large memorial for the Engineers who worked on her.
