A great spot for a nice meal is at Oxfords in Oxford street (not to be mistaken for Oxford Brasserie which is next door).
Great food and there is a little bar area as you walk in and you can sit and have a pre-dinner drink. Although be warned it does get busy.
The food portions are perfect to allow you to fit in 3 courses. As a vegetarian there tends to be only one option but the meals have always been outstanding. With an average priced bottle of wine the cost tends to be £40-£50 per person for a 3 course meal and wine.
Not the best setting for a romantic meal as the tables are quite close together. The atmosphere is friendly with professional staff that are helpful and well informed about the menu.
There are other options as well: Langley's Bistro may not be as fancy, but is well regarded. And Kuti's is some decent Indian food, for the special occasion that calls for some naan.
