The National Gas Museum on Aylestone Road in Leicester is housed in a former gas works.

It is claimed to have the largest collection of gas and gas artefacts in the world. The museum is based in a grade 2 listed gatehouse dating from 1878 with over 4000 items in storage. Displays include accounts of the history of gas usage in the United Kingdom and examples of technology the highlight being of a 1920's kitchen with gas equipment.

Open all year round on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
