Over the last few years, an abundance of special places to eat have sprung up in Liverpool.

For a unique setting Alma de Cuba in Seel Street wins hands down. A former church, it has been sensitively converted to a restaurant and bar, but still features the altar, the Lady Chapel, and the Stations of the Cross.

For a fabulous view and some out of the ordinary Italian food, try Filini's at the Radisson Hotel. Try a cocktail at the White Bar before your meal.

The London Carriage Works on Hope Street has fine dining and a brasserie, both are excellent and to be recommended.

Matou in the Ferry Terminal Building at the Pier Head has fantastic views of the river, and a terrace ideal for a pre dinner drink- subject to the weather!

The Panoramic restaurant has wonderful views too and an innovative menu.
