After visiting all the obvious attractions of Greenwich; the Observatory, Nautical Museum and not forgetting the market, the more energetic visitor may be tempted to follow the Thames Walk river path to the O2 Arena.

At the time of writing, this is not a good idea. After a very pleasant half mile or so one arrives at the Cutty Sark pub. Soon after this the path takes a 'temporary' route inland. Not only does this add a considerable distance to the walk, but it is built up and industrialised for the rest of the way. At one point the route runs parallel to the Blackwall Tunnel approach road - very noisy and dusty - and the signs become very vague, making it quite easy to take the wrong direction.

The O2 certainly is worthy of a visit but until they complete the improvements to the river walk it is more pleasant to take the 188 bus from Greenwich to the North Greenwich interchange or, if one wishes to enjoy the river, take the Thames Clipper from Greenwich Pier to the Queen Elizabeth Pier adjacent to the Arena.
