York's  Quilting Museum and Gallery at Peaseholme Green has been open since 2008 and is a real little gem. It is located in St Anthony's Hall which dates from the 1400s and is worth visiting in its own right. The Museum consists of  a number of different exhibitions throughout the year so visitors should check when changeover weeks happen! The  exhibitions reflect the fascinating history and craft of quilting and showcase historic quilts from the Museum's collections, alongside contemporary pieces that are bang up to date.

The museum shop is well worth a visit and staff are always friendly and welcoming. There are regular workshops and events.

Overseas visitors seek out the museum but locals and UK residents need to know of its existence too. The museum's location provides a great backdrop with beautiful gardens, a great Italian deli and coffee/lunch stop and views from the walls.
