Stratford-upon-Avon is a great place for the discerning shopper.
It is essentially a market town and has been since it was granted a Charter in 1196 by King Richard 1. A traditional and very popular market is held every Friday in Rother Street, with a traditional or Farmers market, most Saturdays.
Stratford has the major chain stores you would expect to find in any major town or city, but it also a large number of independent shops, to suit all pockets, ranging from 'cheap and cheerful to 'high end', exclusives.
There are two very good antique centres in the town centre, art galleries and some very good bookshops to while away some time.
When walking around the town, don't miss the little streets hidden away - the Minories, Bard's Walk, Red Lion Court and Town Square.
