Coventry is a fairly safe place to visit.  Having said this, there are certain precautions that should be taken in order to ensure a smooth trip through central England .  Like always, common sense is the most important tool to be used in staying safe.

Although petty theft and crime are not of major concerns in the city of Coventry , they do happen.  However, these rare situations can be avoided by taking a few simple precautions.  Avoid sticking out by wearing expensive jewelry, showing lots of cash, or looking flashy. Although getting robbed is not a major concern, drawing un-needed attention is never a good idea.  Try blending into the crown instead of sticking out.  Always lock car doors and roll up windows if leaving behind valuables.

Avoid walking alone at night (especially women).  This is a general recommendation for any unfamiliar area, but should be followed in Coventry as well.  If staying with a group is not an option and walking alone is unavoidable, try to remain in lighted, public areas.

In the case of an emergency while in Coventry , contact the police by dialing 999 from any phone.

Although there are no foreign embassies located in Coventry , most countries have one located in London , which is located about an hour drive away.  For a complete list, including location and contact information, check out this Foreign Embassies link.
