There is so much to do in and around Pitlochry. Is definitely easier if you have a car, as most of the really good stuff is off the beaten track. great car hire deals from Edinburgh and Glasgow are available from Arnold Clark

If you have smaller kids, check out Active Kids in Stanley or if you are there in the summer months, try the Fish ladder in Pitlochry or go to beatrix potter land.

Got teenagers? then check out Nae Limits for some white water rafting or canyoning  or Sphereing or get them up and moving early in the morning for some proper hiking. There is also the smallest disitllery in Scotland - Edradour

Some good walks around Pitlcohry are :

Schiehallion; a big walk but a great full day trip.

Ben Lawers; another full day journey, but a pub at the end for that most needed re-fuel -

The Hermitage - small - 1 hour walk - but Very pretty

The queens view - lazy view finder. You can drive to near the view and walk dfor 200 ards to the actual view. See Ot head into Dunkeld and take a walk down by the river. You can walk down past the Hilton hotel. carefully cross the bridge on the A9 and head back down the other side of the river back into Dunkeld. Both sides of the river are very different and is a stunning 2 hour walk on the flat-ish.

Have fun!!
