Centre for the Understanding of the Built Environment. Portland Street. Central Manchester.

Set-up inside an old textile office / warehouse. Inaugurated in the late '90's. This came about shortly after the IRA Manchester bombings in '96. The rebuilding of Central Manchester became a matter of public interest / concern.

The initial temporary exhibitions were essentially architecture related - obviously ! Alas, CUBE has now morphed into The CUBE Gallery - non architecture temporary exhibitions have tended to take precedence.

RIBA originally had a bookshop at this venue. They still do - sort of ! The RIBA Hub has a very small selection of books alongside a small cafe.
