The Palacio de la Merced is located at Plaza De Colón, 15, and is the site of the Provincial Council and is the most beautiful Baroque building in Cordoba. It was a former convent, the Convent of La Merced, where Columbus stayed. There is a beautiful patio, staircase, and church. The facade of the building is beautiful and colorful, something very unusual. The church has an impressive doorway dating from 1745. The main altarpiece is magnificent and was made by Gomez de Sandoval.
