Most visitors to Girona will arrive by plane or train.

The airline RyanAir offers multiple flights into the Girona Airport (which also serves as the airport for Barcelona) every day from many cities around Europe including London, Dublin, Frankfurt, Rome and Paris, Dusseldorf/Weeze, Eindhoven as well as from other cities in Spain such as Malaga and Valencia.  Car rental is available at the airport from Hertz, Avis, Europcar and Auriga.  Private shuttles and transfers are available from the airport, as are buses and taxis.  Maps from the airport into town are available online. The cheapest way to travel from Girona Airport to Girona City is by bus. A return ticket to Girona busstation costs 3,40 euro (in 2006). If you have a hotel in the old city take a taxi (about 20 euro).  The taxi driver will have a list of fares to most destinations as these fares are fixed.  The fares back to the airport are metered.

There are big multinationals like Hertz , Avis, Budget , etc. 

Those coming by the Renfe train will arrive at the Girona Bus and Train Station.  Over 20 trains run daily between Barcelona and Girona, with each trip taking 1 to 2 hours.  A one-way fare is about 6 Euros.  International visitors can first arrive by train in Barcelona and then transfer onto one of these commuters.
