Santiago de Compostela has an international airport, is the largest in the Galicia region and the best to fly to from out of the country. The airlines servicing the airport include; Iberia, SpanAir and Ryanair, Air Berlin and Air Nostrum. Travellers from non-EU countries will have to transfer at another major European city, since inter-continental flights do not land at Santiago.


The airport is about 6mi (10km) outside of the city. Taxis are widely available expect the trip (for upto date costs see airport website )to get to the town centre. Taxi stands are located outside of the arrival terminals. Here, you will also find buses that run to the bus station and the city of Lugo. Once at the bus station, you can take buses to other parts of Santiago or to other towns in Galicia, Spain or even Portugal.

It is easy to get to most other locations in Galicia, as Santiago de Compostela is located on several major roads.


The RENFE trains, run several times a day between Galician cities. There are also trains that go to Portugal. However this can involve a change of trains at the border. The journey is not so quick as using a bus.
