On the southern most point of Gibraltar Europa Point is a little bit forgotten these days but on a clear summer evening is worth going down to catch the views. The Sun hits the Atlas Mountains across the straight and the view is quite breathtaking. There is not a lot at Europa Point anymore, there is a Beautiful Mosque of Ibrahim-al-Ibrahim gifted to the Rocks muslim community by King Fahd of Saudi Arabia and officially inagurated in 1997.
The other two buildings are the Lighthouse which is also gorgeous at sunset and the Shrine of Our Lady of Europa. When the spaniards recaptured Gibraltar from the Moors in 1462 they took the small mosque and converted it to a Shrine to Our Lady patroness of Europe. The Shrine was consecrated to God through the Holy Mother and built a chapel at a right angle to the mosque. This whole building is the Shrine to Our Lady of Europa
