There a couple of ways that can simplify your arrival to Amalfi. To get here, you can fly into Capodichino, the airport in Naples and either rent a car or take a taxi from there.
Additionally, you can catch a trainin Sorrento. Sorrento serves as a kind of connector for the North and South of Italy - trains from here service all other major Italian cities. So you should have no problem taking a train to Sorrento no matter where you are starting you travels from.
There is also a bus, the SITA, which runs every couple of hours from either Sorrento or Positano. Tickets only cost between $2 and $4. The bus terminal in Amalfi is located at the waterfront at Piazza Favio Gioia.
Driving to Amalfi is another option. You'll want to take A1 to A30 and exit in Salernoor Vietri sul Mare. Be careful driving, there are many sharp turns and small roadways in Amalfi. Taking the S163 is also a good option, if you want to enjoy the scenery! This route will take right by the coastline.
In the Summer, you can also take a ferry from Naples, Salerno, Capri or Sorrento. Amalfi is one of the cities serviced by the ferries. Call Travelmar at 089-871483 for additional information.
