Taxi service is available from the airports to Grindelwald and major hotels in the village supply taxi services for in-town travel and to nearby destinations..Promises to pick you up and drop you off anywhere in Switzerland (with the exception of Jungfrau, one would suspect).

If you're renting a car while in Grindelwald, you're best off making the arrangements before-hand through a travel agent or online reservation service. If you're traveling to Grindelwald in the wintertime, however, you're better off  using the train instead of car rental, as the roads in and out of Grindelwald are mountainous and nerve-wracking. The village is the last stop before the mountains themselves, so there's nowhere to drive after there.

In the summertime, road conditions are good, though still mountainous and nerve-wracking. Train travel is still the better idea, though car rental allows for more spontaneity.  There are no car rental agencies to be found in Grindelwald itself, but nearby Interlaken has Auto Europe, Avis, Hertz, and others. Shop around. Be aware of local and state taxes, airport surcharges, insurance, or other hidden charges are tacked on without your pre-knowledge. If you're still intent of renting a car for use in town, here's a city map of Grindelwald. If you're driving there in winter, be attentive to the weather and be sure the car is equipped with tire chains.
